WFIE (channel 14) is a television station in Evansville, Indiana, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Gray Television. The station's studios are located on Mount Auburn Road in Evansville, and its transmitter is located in the Wolf Hills section of Henderson, Kentucky. History WFIE was granted a construction permit on June 10, 1953, and began broadcasting on November 15, 1953, on analog UHF channel 62. The station, Indiana's sixth, was originally co-owned by Jesse, Isadore, and Oscar Fine. WFIE was the second station in the Tri-State, but the first to be based in Evansville proper. WEHT (channel 25), while licensed to Evansville and having launched over a month before WFIE, has always had its studio located across the Ohio River in Henderson. WFIE has always been an NBC affiliate, but originally carried secondary affiliations with ABC (shared with WEHT) and DuMont. WTVW (channel 7) is a television station in Evansville, Indiana, United States, serving as a ''de facto'' owned-and-operated station of The CW. It is owned by Mission Broadcasting, which maintains a shared services agreement (SSA) with Nexstar Media Group (which owned the station outright from 2003 to 2011 and presently owns American Broadcasting Company, ABC affiliate WEHT [channel 25] and holds a majority stake in The CW), for the provision of certain services. Both stations share studios on Marywood Drive in Henderson, Kentucky, while WTVW's transmitter is located just outside of Chandler, Indiana. WEHT (channel 25) is a television station in Evansville, Indiana, United States, affiliated with ABC. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group, which provides certain services to WTVW (channel 7), a ''de facto'' owned-and-operated station of The CW, under a shared services agreement (SSA) with Mission Broadcasting. Both stations share studios on Marywood Drive in Henderson, Kentucky, where WEHT's transmitter is also located. History The station signed on September 27, 1953, as the first television station in the Tri-State area. It aired an analog signal on UHF channel 50 and was a primary CBS affiliate with secondary relations with ABC. Although the station was licensed to Evansville, the studios have always been located across the Ohio River in Henderson. WEHT was originally owned by the Malco Theater Corporation of Memphis, Tennessee; minority interest was held by several Henderson businessmen for the first year.
