WDLX (930 AM) and WGHB (1250 AM) are radio stations broadcasting a sports format. The WDLX/WGHB simulcast is currently owned by Pirate Media Group. Licensed to Washington, North Carolina, United States, WDLX serves the Greenville-New Bern area. The station signed on the air March 3, 1942 as WRRF. The calls stood for "We Radiate Real Friendship". In 1962, the call letters were changed to WITN, owing largely to the eyeWITNess news format adopted by owner Bill Roberson's television station, WITN-TV. WITN-TV (channel 7) is a television station licensed to Washington, North Carolina, United States, serving Eastern North Carolina as an affiliate of NBC and MyNetworkTV. Owned by Gray Television, the station has primary studio facilities on East Arlington Boulevard in Greenville, with an additional studio in New Bern. Its transmitter is located in Grifton Township along NC 118. History The station signed on September 28, 1955, from facilities on US 17 in Chocowinity (outside Washington, though with a Washington mailing address). It was the area's second television outlet to launch after Greenville's WNCT-TV (channel 9). Baltimore Orioles Radio Network
The Baltimore Orioles Radio Network comprises 39 stations in five states and the District of Columbia. Beginning in 2022, the Orioles' flagship station is once again WBAL/1090 AM and is joined by sister station WIYY/97.9 FM; a game conflict with the Baltimore Ravens sees one station carrying the Orioles, and the other the Ravens. The contract is for six years. Jim Hunter calls play by play for the majority of games, with ESPN broadcaster Kevin Brown stepping in for approximately 50 games. Hunter took the primary role calling Orioles radio broadcasts following the retirement of Joe Angel, "The Voice of the Orioles" in 2004. Classic hits is a radio format which generally includes songs from the top 40 music charts from the late 1960s to the early 2000s, with music from the 1980s serving as the core of the format. Music that was popularized by MTV in the early 1980s and the nostalgia behind it is a major driver to the format. CINW was the final call sign used by an English language AM radio station in Montreal, Quebec, which, along with French-language sister station CINF, ceased operations at 7:00 p.m. ET on January 29, 2010. Owned and operated by Corus Quebec, it broadcast on 940 kHz with a full-time power of 50,000 watts as a clear channel, Class A station, using a slightly directional antenna designed to improve reception in downtown Montreal. Due to its heritage, the station is generally considered to be Canada's first and oldest broadcasting station, as well as one of the first in the world.
