WDF Europe Cup
The WDF Europe Cup is a darts tournament held biennially since 1978. The tournament consists of a team championship, a pairs championship and a singles championship. All events have a men's competition, and a women's competition (since 1982). Tournament structure The country achieving the highest total of points from all three events shall be crowned the WDF Europe Cup Champions. In the event of a tie for first place those countries shall be declared the Joint WDF Europe Cup Champions. World Darts Federation
The World Darts Federation (WDF) is a sport governing body and (along with the PDC) a tournament organiser for the game of darts. It was formed in 1974 by representatives of the original fourteen founding members. Membership is open to the national organizing body for darts in all nations. The WDF encourages the promotion of the sport of darts among and between those bodies, in an effort to gain international recognition for darts as a major sport. The WDF is a full member of Global Association of International Sports Federations, which is the governing body for international sports federations. The WDF stages a world championship (called the WDF World Cup), as well as continental championships such as the WDF Americas Cup, the WDF Asia-Pacific Cup and the WDF Europe Cup. George Nicholl (darts Player)
George Frederick Nicholl (5 November 1832 – 28 July 1913) was a British academic, who held the position of Lord Almoner's Professor of Arabic at the University of Oxford from 1878 until 1909. Career Nicholl was born in Tipton, Staffordshire (now West Midlands). He matriculated at Oxford as a member of Balliol College in 1878 at the age of 45. His appointment by the Lord Almoner to be Lord Almoner's Professor of Arabic was announced in ''The Times'' on 30 October 1878, when it was also recorded that the university would award Nicholl the degree of MA by decree on 5 November 1878. In addition to his position as Lord Almoner's professor (1878–1909), he became Professor of Sanskrit and Persian at King's College London in 1879 and was also lecturer in Oriental languages at Oxford from 1880 onwards. Robert Francis George (born 16 December 1945) is an English television presenter and former professional darts player. He is widely recognised as one of the game's biggest personalities, known for his flamboyant entrances in which the "King of Darts" makes his way to the stage bedecked in jewellery, wearing a crown and cloak and holding a candelabra to the Queen song 'We Are the Champions'. George won several leading major darts tournaments, he won the News of the World Darts Championship twice and appeared in two BDO Darts World Championship finals and was the first full-time exhibition player. Cliff Lazarenko (born 16 March 1952) is an English former professional darts player. Anthony Brown (1 April 1945 – 22 September 2022) was a former English professional darts player. He came close to winning the world championship on a number of occasions, reaching the World Professional Darts Championships semi-finals four times, losing twice to Eric Bristow and twice to John Lowe. Career Brown appeared in the first-ever World Championship in 1978 as the number 8 seed, but surprisingly lost to Australian namesake Tim Brown. Brown then went on to reach the semi-finals of the World Championship for three successive years - 1979, 1980 and 1981. After a surprise second-round defeat in the 1982 Championships, Brown reached the semi-final again in 1983, losing to Bristow.
