WCOD
WCOD-FM (106.1 MHz) is a hot adult contemporary formatted radio station licensed to Hyannis, Massachusetts. It is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. WCOD's sister stations include WEII, WCIB, and WXTK. Its transmitter and studio are located separately in Dennis. History One of the oldest FM signals on Cape Cod, WCOD was ranked third in the Winter 2008 Arbitron rating 106 WCOD was owned by Boch Broadcasting before moving to Quantum Communications in 2005. In 2009, Contemporary hit radio, CHR sister station WRZE became WEII, an all-sports station. Some of the staff, including morning anchors Dan and Stephanie, were moved over to WCOD. On March 16, 2009, the popular Dan and Stephanie morning show made its appearance on the station. WEII
WEII (96.3 FM, "SportsRadio 96.3") is a radio station in Dennis, Massachusetts. The station airs a sports radio format from Boston-based WEEI-FM. It is owned by iHeartMedia. The station started life in 1981 under the call letters WGTF, operating on 93.5 FM. It moved to 96.3 in 1982 (the 93.5 frequency is now occupied by WFRQ) and changed its call letters to WXJY in 1984 and WNTX in 1988. The station's format as WNTX was "Oldies 96", competing with the larger "Oldies 103" in Boston. The Makkay family, headed by Al Makkay, purchased the frequency in late 1992, and in January 1993, it flipped to a Top 40 (CHR) format, rebranded as WRZE "96.3 The Rose". In 2003, Makkay Broadcasting sold WRZE, along with its sister stations WPXC and WCIB, to Qantum Communications for $32 million. In 2008, the station, which was originally licensed to Nantucket, was re-licensed to Dennis. WXTK (95.1 FM broadcasting, FM; "Newsradio 95 WXTK") is a commercial radio, commercial radio station city of license, licensed to West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and serving Cape Cod. It has a talk radio radio format, format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. The radio studio, studios and offices are on Barnstable Road in Hyannis, Massachusetts, Hyannis, while the transmitter is on Radio Lane in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, Yarmouth. WXTK is the direct descendant of Cape Cod's first commercial radio station, WOCB. Weekdays begin with a news and information show hosted by Ed Lambert.
