WBYD-CD, virtual channel 39 ( UHF digital channel 19), is a low-powered, Class A Jewelry TV- affiliated television station licensed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Owned by Fifth Street Enterprises, it broadcasts from the WQED's antenna tower in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh. Until 2015, the station was licensed to Johnstown, Pennsylvania. It is famous for televising a live auction for two years from 2001 to 2002. The station is not carried on any local cable TV system or DBS provider in the Pittsburgh area. History and Programming W35AZ signed on in the early 1990s on analog channel 35. It was a Network One affiliate for the life of the short-lived network. After the demise of Network One, the station became an affiliate of America's Collectibles Network (now Jewelry TV). WIIC-LD, virtual and UHF digital channel 31, is a low-powered Rev'n- affiliated television station licensed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The station is owned by Abacus Television, and broadcasts from WQED's antenna tower in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. History WIIC was originally an affiliate of The Box. After The Box was purchased by Viacom in 2001, WIIC became an affiliate of MTV2. In 2001, it would also simulcast Live Auction Television, a program that aired on its sister station, WBYD-CA (channel 39). After leaving MTV2, WIIC-LP aired programming from NOYZ, a hybrid music/text messaging channel, until the station went silent in late 2007. NOYZ ceased operations a few months later. Eastland Mall (North Versailles, Pennsylvania)
Eastland Mall was a two-level, enclosed shopping mall located in North Versailles, Pennsylvania, situated on of land at the peak of a hill overlooking the Monongahela River. The mall was home to such stores as Gimbels, J.C. Penney, F.W. Woolworth Company, and Gee Bee Department Stores. The mall annex also included a two screen movie theater and auto repair center. Opening The Gimbels department store chain began construction on Eastland Mall in 1961. After approximately two years of construction and $12 million of construction costs, Eastland Shopping Plaza opened on August 15, 1963. WQED (channel 13) is a PBS member television station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Owned by WQED Multimedia, it is sister to public radio station WQED-FM (89.3). Bruce Benderson (born August 6, 1946) is an American author, born to parents of Russian Jewish descent, who lives in New York. He attended William Nottingham High School (1964) in Syracuse, New York and then Binghamton University (1969). He is today a novelist, essayist, journalist and translator, widely published in France, less so in the United States.
