WBIC is a low power radio station licensed to Wilson, North Carolina. The station's studio is located at Tabernacle Baptist Church and its transmitting facility is located across Airport Boulevard on the campus of Wilson Christian Academy. History Tabernacle Baptist Church and its pastor, Joe Shakour, applied for a low power radio station license from the Federal Communications Commission in the fall of 2013 and were awarded a construction permit the following year. The church filed for a license to cover the construction permit on October 14, 2015, and its license was granted on October 19, 2015. Programming WBIC airs traditional Christian music. Most songs are in the public domain, and many are hymns. Hourly newscasts are from the Salem Radio Network and forecasts are from staff meteorologist Tom Churchill. The Fundamental Broadcasting Network (FBN) is a network of Conservative Christian radio stations in the United States, based out of the Grace Baptist Church in Newport, North Carolina. Programs heard on FBN include ''Family Altar'' with Lester Roloff, Scripture Reading with Alexander Scourby, ''Gospel Hour'' with Oliver B. Greene, ''Ranger Bill'', along with other Christian programming. Its music is predominantly traditionalist in nature, consisting mostly of hymns and some older Southern gospel, with no contemporary Christian music. ''Unshackled!'' is a radio drama series produced by Pacific Garden Mission, in Chicago, Illinois, that first aired on September 23, 1950. It is one of the longest-running radio dramas in history and one of a very few still in production in the United States. The show is aired over 6,500 times around the world each week on over 1,550 radio outlets, and is translated and re-dramatized into eight languages on six continents. As of January 2022, over 3,707 episodes have been produced, each 30 minutes in length. ''Ranger Bill'' is a Christian radio program from the 1950s, produced by Moody Radio. With over 200 episodes produced, Ranger Bill stars Miron Canaday as the title character and Stumpy Jenkins and Ed Ronne, Sr as Grey Wolf. The main character, Ranger Bill, is a forest ranger located in the town of Knotty Pine along the Rocky Mountains. Lester Leo Roloff (June 28, 1914 – November 2, 1982) was an American fundamentalist Independent Baptist preacher and the founder of teen homes across the American South. The operation of those teen homes (primarily his Rebekah Home for Girls) placed him in the public spotlight. Early ministry Born of German descent, Roloff was reared in Dawson in Navarro County in east-central Texas. He began preaching at the age of 18. He attended Baylor University in Waco (Roloff is reported to have brought his dairy cow with him to raise tuition funds through the sale of its milk), and later Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Wilson is a city in and the county seat of Wilson County, North Carolina, United States.
