WATC-DT (channel 57) is a religious broadcasting independent station (North America), independent television station in Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Owned by Carolina Christian Broadcasting, the station maintains studios on Enterprise Drive in Norcross, Georgia, Norcross, and its transmitter is located on Sweat Mountain in northeastern Cobb County, Georgia, Cobb County, near the Cherokee County, Georgia, Cherokee County line. DTV Delay Act
The digital transition in the United States was the switchover from Analog TV, analog to exclusively Digital television, digital broadcasting of terrestrial television programming. According to David Rehr, then president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, this transition represented "the most significant advancement of television technology since color TV was introduced." For full-power TV stations, the transition went into effect on June 12, 2009, with stations ending regular programming on their analog signals no later than 11:59 p.m. local time that day. In the broadcasting industry, a dark television station or silent radio station is one that has gone off the air for an indefinite period of time. Usually unlike dead air (broadcasting only silence), a station that is dark or silent does not even transmit a carrier signal. Class A Television Service
The class A television service is a system for regulating some low-power television (LPTV) stations in the United States. Class A stations are denoted by the broadcast callsign suffix "-CA" (analog) or "-CD" (digital), although very many analog -CA stations have a digital companion channel that was assigned the -LD suffix used by regular (non-class-A) digital LPTV stations. The FCC created this category of service as a result of the Community Broadcasters Protection Act of 1999. WSKC-CD, UHF digital channel 14, is a low-powered KBS World- affiliated television station licensed to Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The station is owned by KM LPTV of Atlanta, LLC. History Early Years The original callsign from 1984 was W04BR on channel 4. It was briefly assigned W59CZ in 1995 or 1996 while changing channels to 59. It became WSKC-LP after that and still identified itself as such, though its suffix was changed with the upgrade to class A in 2005, making it WSKC-CA. It carried Korean programming from South Korea. The analog station on channel 22, was located atop Sweat Mountain, and had a somewhat directional antenna, originally aimed generally southeast toward Atlanta. GEB Network (formerly known as Golden Eagle Broadcasting) is a digital satellite television network, which airs primarily Christian and family programming. Oral Roberts founded it in 1996.
