Wyoming's 39th House of Representatives district in the United States is one of 60 legislative districts included in the Wyoming House of Representatives, lower house of the Wyoming Legislature. It covers part of Sweetwater County, Wyoming, Sweetwater County, which compromises the Rock Springs, Wyoming, Rock Springs—Green River, Wyoming, Green River—Wyoming Micropolitan statistical area, Micropolitan Statistical Area. Cody Wylie
Cody Wylie is an American businessman and politician. He was elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives in the 2022 Wyoming House of Representatives General Election to the 39th district. Early life Wylie was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming and graduated from the Western Wyoming Community College with a degree in Political Science in 2008. He would go on to graduate from the University of Wyoming earning a B.S. in Political Science in 2011. He would work as vice president for his father's construction company until 2020. He describes himself as a Christian. Career In 2020 Wylie served on the Rock Springs Planning and Zoning Commission before running for the Wyoming House of Representatives for the 39th district. Marshall A. Burt (born May 6, 1976) is an American politician who served in the Wyoming House of Representatives. A member of the Libertarian Party, Burt represented the 39th district from 2021 to 2023. Burt is the first Libertarian candidate to be elected to a state legislature since Steve Vaillancourt in 2000, and the first third-party candidate elected to the Wyoming Legislature in over 100 years. Burt was defeated by Republican Cody Wylie in the 2022 Wyoming House of Representatives election. Early life and career Burt was born in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served nine years in Okinawa, Japan, and in the Iraq War. He is employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a track inspector. Wyoming Republican Party
The Wyoming Republican Party is the affiliate of the Republican Party in Wyoming. It is currently the dominant party in the state, and is one of the strongest affiliates of the national Republican Party. The party currently controls Wyoming's at-large U.S. House seat, both U.S. Senate seats, the governorship, and has supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature. In 2021, the Wyoming Republican Party voted to stop recognizing Liz Cheney as a Republican. Cheney had criticized former president Donald Trump for attempting to overturn the 2020 election results after he lost the election and inciting a pro-Trump mob to assault the U.S. Capitol.
