The Grand Olympic Auditorium is a former sports venue in southern Downtown Los Angeles, California. The venue was built in 1924 at 1801 South Grand Avenue, now just south of the Santa Monica Freeway. The grand opening of the Olympic Auditorium was on August 5, 1925, and was a major media event, attended by such celebrities as Jack Dempsey and Rudolph Valentino. Ivar Valentin Johansson (31 January 1903 – 4 August 1979) was a Sweden, Swedish Amateur wrestling, wrestler who competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics, 1928, 1932 Summer Olympics, 1932 and 1936 Summer Olympics. In 1932 he won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman welterweight and freestyle middleweight events. Four years later he won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman middleweight competition. Career At the 1932 Olympics Johansson first competed as a freestyle middleweight. Despite being a favorite, he lost his first bout to Kyösti Luukko. Yet he won his all other bouts by fall, while Luukko lost in the semifinals and finished second. Two days later he was scheduled to compete as a Greco-Roman welterweight. For this purpose he shed five kilograms of bodyweight by fasting and sweating in a sauna, yet relatively easily won all four bouts. József Tunyogi (9 March 1907 - 11 April 1980) was born in Budapest, Hungary and was a Hungarian wrestler. He won the European Greco-Roman wrestling championship in 1929 and the European freestyle wrestling in 1931. 1932 games The following year he was selected by Hungary for the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States at the age of 25. In the first round (1 August) he defeated Émile Poilvé of France, followed by Robert Hess of the USA the next day. In the third round he defeated Sumiyuki Kutani of Japan, on the same day as he defeated Hess. All three of his victories were by decision. In the final round, however, he was beaten by Kyösti Luukko of Finland, knocked out after 7 minutes, 29 seconds. Luukko then went on to win the silver medal. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling.
