Heydar Aliyev Arena
The Heydar Aliyev Sports and Exhibition Complex is the main exhibition space of Baku, Azerbaijan. Named after a former President Heydar Aliyev ( whose presidency was marked with his large cult of personality), it is located on Tbilisi Avenue between Hyatt Hotel and Grand Hotel Europe. Since its opening in 1990, it held about 40 international competitions in different kinds of sports. The facility seats 8,000 people and being the largest sports facility in Azerbaijan, the complex offers all the necessary conditions for major international competitions. History The construction of the building started in 1977 but was not completed until 1989. In 2006, the facility underwent renovation with a Serbian company, SERBAZ, replacing the glazing, repairing level one and two lobbies and installing the air conditioning system. Stig-André Berge (born 20 July 1983) is a Greco-Roman wrestler from Norway who competes in the 59–60 kg category. He won bronze medals at the 2014 World Championships and 2016 Olympics. 2018 World Championships runner-up. Berge took up wrestling in 1987. His mother died of cancer in 2016. In March 2021, he competed at the European Qualification Tournament in Budapest, Hungary hoping to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In May 2021, he also failed to qualify for the Olympics at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Early life Berge was born in Oslo on 20 July 1983. Victor Ciobanu
Victor Ciobanu (born 7 October 1992) is a Moldovan Greco-Roman wrestler. He won the gold medal in the 60kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway. He is the first wrestler representing Moldova to win a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the World Wrestling Championships. In 2018, Ciobanu won the silver medal in the same event at the World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. He also won the gold medal in his event at the 2019 European Wrestling Championships in Bucharest, Romania. In 2021, Ciobanu represented Moldova at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Roman Amoyan ( hy, Ռոման Ամոյան, born 3 September 1983) is an Armenian retired Greco-Roman wrestler of Yazidi-Kurdish descent. He is an Olympic bronze medalist, three-time World Championships medalist, and two-time European Champion. Amoyan received the Honored Master of Sports of Armenia title in 2009. Early life Roman was born in Yerevan, Armenian SSR to Yazidi parents. He started wrestling in 1995 and became a Junior World Champion in 2001 and a Junior European Champion in 2002. He is uncle of Malkhas Amoyan. Career Amoyan won the Olympic bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in the Men's Greco-Roman 55 kg.
