Woven (band)
Woven is an experimental rock band from Los Angeles, California. Biography Woven combines electronica and rock elements, influenced by the likes of Björk, Aphex Twin, Pink Floyd, Jane's Addiction and Deftones, to create music ranging from guitar-driven drum and bass to syncopated, sparse IDM. In 2001, Woven released its debut EP titled EPrime on Interscope records. Songs from EPrime became the fifth most-added to U.S. college radio playlists in the year of its release, and landed spots on Los Angeles-based radio station KCRW 89.9. In 2003, the band released their first full-length album with Interscope Records, 8 Bit Monk. The review on MSN's Entertainment section said of the album that it "tends to meander in Woven's self-created safe zone between electronic and alt rock", and that the band had upped the groove and removed much of the subtlety it displayed on Eprime. Jane's Addiction is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985. The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. Jane's Addiction was one of the first bands from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States. Founded by Farrell and Avery, following the disintegration of Farrell's previous band Psi Com, Jane's Addiction's first release was a self-titled live album, ''Jane's Addiction'' (1987), which caught the attention of Warner Bros. Mellowdrone
Mellowdrone is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1999. Biography Mellowdrone originated as Jonathan Bates' solo project, but expanded to a full band with Tony DeMatteo (guitar and keyboards), Scott Ellis (drums) and Greg Griffith (bass). Griffith and Ellis were later replaced by Camila Gutierrez and Brian Borg respectively. The band's music encompasses a range of styles from lo-fi, indie rock and experimental. Their debut album, ''Box'', was released in 2006 on Columbia Records. Shortly after, Gutierrez formed Uh Huh Her and left Mellowdrone. The band continued as a three-piece, with Bates taking over as bassist. Their follow-up album, ''Angry Bear,'' was released in 2009 on Coming Home Records. Mt. Helium, formerly known as the Apex Theory, was an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, that was known for playing Mediterranean music mixed with progressive rock. Dredg (stylized as dredg) is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Los Gatos, California. The band's lineup consists of vocalist Gavin Hayes, guitarist Mark Engles, bassist Drew Roulette and drummer and pianist Dino Campanella. Stephen Fitzmaurice is an Irish mixer and producer based in London, England. His credits include albums for Depeche Mode, Seal, Sam Smith, Ian Brown, Kylie Minogue, Sting, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, The Kooks, Alicia Keys, U2, Hikaru Utada, and Mr.Children. As a teenager, Fitzmaurice moved from Dublin to London, where he began working at Sarm Studios with producer Trevor Horn and mixer Julian Mendelsohn. He later moved to New York where he worked on records by Jodeci, Eric Clapton and young upcoming artists, including Timbaland and Missy Elliott. KCRW (89.9 MHz FM) is a National Public Radio member station broadcasting from the campus of Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California, where the station is licensed.
