World Record Progression 4 × 50 Metres Medley Relay
This article includes the world record progression for the 4×50 metres medley relay and it shows the chronological history of world record times in that competitive short course swimming (sport), swimming event. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Evgeny Vadimovich Sedov (russian: Евгений Вадимович Седов; born 29 January 1996) is a Russian competitive swimmer. Sedov and his teammates won the gold medal in the 4×50 m freestyle relay at the 2014 short course world championships in Doha, breaking the world record. Vitaly Viktorovich Melnikov (russian: Виталий Викторович Мельников; born 20 March 1990) is a Russian backstroke swimmer. Career At the 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships, he won an individual silver medal in the 100 m backstroke and two medley relay gold medals, in the men's and mixed competitions, breaking world records in both medley events.
