World Of The Five Gods
''World of the Five Gods'' is a fantasy series by American writer Lois McMaster Bujold. It was awarded the Hugo Award for Best Series in 2018. It consists of four novels and ten novellas, with six of the novellas included in the award. Three novels and two of the novellas were nominees for or winners of major awards. ''The World of the Five Gods'' was informally called "the Chalion series" at first, but the name was abandoned as the series expanded. Lois McMaster Bujold ( ; born November 2, 1949) is an American speculative fiction writer. She is an acclaimed writer, having won the Hugo Award for best novel four times, matching Robert A. Heinlein's record (not counting his Retro Hugos). Her novella "The Mountains of Mourning" won both the Hugo Award and Nebula Award. In the fantasy genre, ''The Curse of Chalion'' won the Mythopoeic Award for Adult Literature and was nominated for the 2002 World Fantasy Award for best novel, and both her fourth Hugo Award and second Nebula Award were for ''Paladin of Souls''. ''The Curse of Chalion'' is a 2001 fantasy novel by American writer Lois McMaster Bujold. ''The Hallowed Hunt'' is a fantasy novel by American writer Lois McMaster Bujold, published in 2005. It placed fourth in the annual Locus Poll for best fantasy novel, and the series it is a part of, World of the Five Gods, won the Hugo Award for Best Series in 2018. Context in the series This novel is set in the same world as two of Bujold's previous fantasies, ''The Curse of Chalion'' (2001) and ''Paladin of Souls'' (2003), but in a country ("the Weald") well to the south of the Ibran Peninsula, i.e. with a cooler climate. The earlier books introduce a setting in which technology and society parallel those of a late medieval Earth, with a strong but decentralized religion of five gods. The Nebula Awards annually recognize the best works of science fiction or fantasy published in the United States. The awards are organized and awarded by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), a nonprofit association of professional science fiction and fantasy writers. They were first given in 1966 at a ceremony created for the awards, and are given in four categories for different lengths of literary works. Mythopoeic Award
The Mythopoeic Awards for literature and literary studies are given annually for outstanding works in the fields of myth, fantasy, and the scholarly study of these areas. Established by the Mythopoeic Society in 1971, the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award is given for "fiction in the spirit of the Inklings", and the Scholarship Award for non-fiction work. The award is a statuette of a seated lion, with a plaque on the base. It has drawn resemblance to, and is often called, the "Aslan". A spoiler is an element of a disseminated summary or description of any narrative that reveals plot elements. Typically, the details of the conclusion of the plot, including the climax and ending, are especially regarded as spoiler material.
