Kobra and the Lotus (also initialized as KATL) is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in 2009 by lead vocalist and songwriter Kobra Paige. History Formation, ''Out of the Pit'' (2009–2010) Kobra and the Lotus was formed by classical singer Kobra Paige. The band started recording their first songs in Calgary, initially produced by Greg Godovitz (Goddo). Kobra and the Lotus put the initial studio tracks on MySpace in summer 2009. They were subsequently discovered by ''Metal Hammer'' and approached to include Kobra Paige in the 2010 Metal Hammer Maidens of Metal Calendar with Simone Simons of Epica and Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil. Kobra Paige
Kobra Paige (born October 14, 1988) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She is the founder, lead singer, and songwriter for hard rock and metal band Kobra and the Lotus. She was also a touring guest vocalist for Kamelot and Metal All Stars. Early years At the age of seven, Paige started classical singing lessons and classical piano, and after attending a Judas Priest concert at age 15, decided that metal was the right place for her voice and her passion. "When I saw the way the crowd responded when "Painkiller" started playing, I knew I needed to be part of this culture", said Paige during an interview with Revolver magazine. Paige and her band Kobra and the Lotus would open for Judas Priest at the Hammersmith Apollo four years later in London. Rush (band)
Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in 1968 in Toronto, that was comprised primarily of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar), and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). The band formed in Toronto in 1968 by Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey, and bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Jones, who was immediately replaced by Lee. After Lee joined, the band went through several lineup configurations before arriving at its classic power trio lineup with the addition of Peart in July 1974, who replaced Rutsey four months after the release of their 1974 self-titled debut album; this lineup remained intact for the remainder of the band's career. "The Spirit of Radio" is a song by Canadian rock band Rush, released from their 1980 album ''Permanent Waves''. The song's name was inspired by Toronto-based radio station CFNY-FM's slogan. "Black Velvet" is a song written by Canadian songwriters Christopher Ward and David Tyson, and recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Alannah Myles. It was released in January 1990 as one of four singles from Myles' 1989 eponymous album from Atlantic Records. It became a number-one hit for two weeks on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in 1990 and reached number one on the Album Rock Tracks chart, as well as number ten in her native Canada and number two on the UK Singles Chart.
