Wopko Jensma
Wopko Pieter Jensma (born 26 July 1939 in Ventersdorp, South Africa) is a South African poet and artist. During the 1960s and 1970s Jensma published three collections of poetry, next to that he created graphics and reproductions of woodcuts. He disappeared from Johannesburg without a trace in 1993, and has not been seen since. Early years Wopko Pieter Jensma, born in Ventersdorp on 26 July 1939, was the eldest of three children of Dutch immigrant Pieter Duurt Jensma, who came to South Africa in 1928, and Anna S.C. Coetzee. He has a sister, Elsa and a brother called Andries. Jensma spent most of his childhood in Middelburg, Eastern Cape, where his father worked at the Grootfontein College of Agriculture. Ventersdorp
Ventersdorp is a town of 4,200 in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West Province, South Africa. It was the seat of the defunct Ventersdorp Local Municipality until 2016. Ventersdorp is centrally located, making it easier to access more prominent urban towns such as Klerksdorp, Lichtenburg, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg. The township (or ''Location'') of Tshing houses most of the town's blacks and coloureds. Tshing has a diamond mine nearby that was owned by a town councillor in the early 1990s. Tshing Location has one high school: Thuto Boswa High School. The smaller township Toevlug has Coloured residents, some of whom have attend the former whites-only Afrikaans High School after the end of Apartheid since 1995. Hofmeyr is a small Karoo town in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, 20 km west of the Bamboesberg mountain range. It lies 64 km north-east of Cradock at an altitude of 1,252 metres. According to the 2011 census, the population of Hofmeyr proper is about 326 persons and the neighbouring township of Luxolweni is about 3354. In former times it lay at the centre of a flourishing sheep-farming district and managed some salt pans 10 km to its west. Founded in 1873, the town was initially named Maraisburg.
