''Woob2 4495'' is the second full-length album from Woob, the stage name of ambient musician Paul Frankland. It was released in the UK on em:t records on 21 September 1995. Overview While not generally regarded by ambient music fans to be as cohesive or ground-breaking as its predecessor, '' Woob 1194'', ''Woob2 4495'' still contains material reckoned to be among the best ambient music released in the 1990s – particularly the 25-minute-long "Depart", and the album's closer, "Later". It also contains the shortest Woob track to date, the 33-second long "Cupboard", which is made up of elements of "Depart". The album also makes less use of vocal samples than 1194, instead using organic sounds such as hand-claps and heartbeats. Frankland himself was dissatisfied with the album; in a 1998 interview, he said: "Woob² did not quite live up to my expectations. Woob is the stage name of Paul Frankland, an English ambient musician who started recording in the early 1990s. Woob's albums combine elements of ambient, downtempo and space music, with samples from field recordings, movies and television. Frankland has also recorded under the names of Journeyman and Max & Harvey. After a period working in the advertising industry, he started releasing new material as Woob in 2010: after that time, Woob's works have gradually shifted towards a more synthwave-oriented sound and adopted a cyberpunk/futuristic imagery. T Records was the record label imprint used solely by the Thompson Twins in the UK for their first 2 albums and corresponding singles. The band had previously released two 7" singles independently: "Squares And Triangles" (RANK1) and "She's In Love With Mystery" (LATE1). However, they are reissued on this label in 1981. After the 2nd album, T Records was absorbed into Arista Records, where the band continued releasing albums & singles. ''Muzik'' was a British dance music magazine published by IPC Media from June 1995 to August 2003. ''Muzik'' was created by two former ''Melody Maker'' journalists, Push and Ben Turner. Push was the editor of ''Muzik'' from its launch until he left the magazine in 1998, at which point Turner took over as editor. The title was subsequently edited by Conor McNicholas, who went on to edit ''NME''. ''Woob 1194'' was the debut album of British soundtrack and ambient musician Paul Frankland. It was recorded over the span of two months and was released in the summer of 1994 on Em:t Records. It was also re-released in late 1994 on Instinct Records in the United States. It was Em:t's second release. Overview The album blends together elements of ambient, dub, and world music into long pieces, combined with samples from field recordings, movies and television shows such as ''Quantum Leap'' and ''Star Trek''.
