Wonderful (Rick James Album)
''Wonderful'' is the 10th studio album by Rick James, released in 1988 via Reprise Records. It includes the hit song " Loosey's Rap", which topped the US R&B Charts. The album peaked at No. 148 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Production James wrote and produced the album. Critical reception The ''Orlando Sentinel'' wrote that "despite the dumb lyrics, ''Wonderful'' sports some great dance-party music." The ''Los Angeles Times'' praised "Loosey's Rap", writing that Shanté is "tougher than a truckload of leather-wearing Mary Jane Girls, and her B-girl boasting—which she sounds fully capable of backing up—makes her a formidable foil for James and his sly, teasing innuendoes." ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'', previously known as ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'', is a book that contains professional music reviews written and edited by staff members from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. Its first edition was published in 1979 and its last in 2004. The guide can be seen at Rate Your Music, while a list of albums given a five star rating by the guide can be seen at Rocklist.net. First edition (1979) ''The Rolling Stone Record Guide'' was the first edition of what would later become ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide''. It was edited by Dave Marsh (who wrote a large majority of the reviews) and John Swenson, and included contributions from 34 other music critics. Chrissi Scinta
The Scintas were a music and comedy variety group. The group began in 1977 as The Scinta Brothers, consisting of Frankie and Joey Scinta, brothers from Buffalo, New York. They got a job performing at the chain of Playboy Clubs, including a stint at the Playboy Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City in 1981. Their younger sister, Chrissi Scinta, joined later. Drummer Pete O'Donnell was added to the group around 1987. In the late 1980s, after Frankie overcame a cocaine addiction, the Scintas became prominent supporters of the "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign. The group toured throughout the eastern United States for many years. They were particularly popular in Akron, Ohio, where they performed regularly at the Tangier cabaret. In 2000, the Scintas moved to Las Vegas and began performing at casinos, with resident shows at the Las Vegas Hilton, Rio, Sahara, The D, and Plaza casinos through the years. Lolita Shante Gooden (born March 8, 1970), better known by her stage name Roxanne Shante, is an American rapper. Born and raised in the Queensbridge Projects of Queens, New York City, Shante first gained attention through the Roxanne Wars and was part of the Juice Crew. The 2017 film, ''Roxanne Roxanne'', is a dramatization of Shante's life. Early life and career Shante was born March 8, 1970 and in 1984, the young rapper ran into Bruce Bailey and Billy Beaver, DJ Mr. Magic, and record agent Marley Marl outside the Queensbridge housing project. The four of them were discussing U.T.F.O. since the rap trio had failed to make an appearance at a concert. The single was one of the last of Rick James' releases to make the Hot Black Singles chart, and was his first number one on the Black Singles chart since 1983. James Ambrose Johnson Jr. (February 1, 1948 – August 6, 2004), better known by his stage name Rick James, was an American singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, James began his musical career in his teenage years. He was in various bands before entering the U.S. Navy Reserve to avoid being drafted into the army. In 1964, James deserted to Toronto, Canada, where he formed the rock band the Mynah Birds, who eventually signed a recording deal with Motown Records in 1966. James's career with the group halted after military authorities discovered his whereabouts and eventually convicted him of desertion related charges. He served several months in jail.
