Women At The Top
''Women at the Top'' is an Australian television series which aired in 1959 on ABC in Sydney. It was an interview series hosted by Peter MacGregor, and featured interviews with women who were successful in their respective fields. Aired in a 30-minute time-slot, in black-and-white, it was a spin-off from ''Men at the Top''. Both series were short-lived, however it is worth noting that ABC series typically ran for shorter seasons than shows on commercial television. Men At The Top
''Men at the Top'' is an Australian television series which aired in 1959 on ABC. It was an interview series hosted by Eric Baume, and proved short-lived, running for about four months. It aired in a half-hour time-slot. Produced in Sydney, it was kinescoped for showing in Melbourne (it is not known if it was also shown in Adelaide and Brisbane). This was one of five series with Eric Baume which aired during the 1950s. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC. ABC TV, formerly known as ABC1, is an Australian national public television network. It is owned and operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and is the flagship ABC Television network. The headquarters of the ABC TV channel and the ABC are in Ultimo, an inner-city suburb of Sydney, New South Wales. Kinescope
Kinescope , shortened to kine , also known as telerecording in Britain, is a recording of a television program on motion picture film, directly through a lens focused on the screen of a video monitor. The process was pioneered during the 1940s for the preservation, re-broadcasting and sale of television programmes before the introduction of quadruplex videotape, which from 1956 eventually superseded the use of kinescopes for all of these purposes. Kinescopes were the only practical way to preserve live television broadcasts prior to videotape. Typically, the term Kinescope can refer to the process itself, the equipment used for the procedure (a movie camera mounted in front of a video monitor, and synchronized to the monitor's scanning rate), or a film made using the process. The term originally referred to the cathode ray tube used in television receivers, as named by inventor Vladimir K. Zworykin in 1929. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984.
