''Women's Prison'' (French: ''Prisons de femmes'') is a 1958 French drama film directed by Maurice Cloche and starring Danièle Delorme, Jacques Duby and Vega Vinci. It is based on the 1930 novel of the same title by Francis Carco previously made into the 1938 French film ''Women's Prison'' and the 1947 Swedish film ''Two Women''.Goble p.70 The film's sets were designed by the art director Robert Giordani and Jean Mandaroux. Maurice Cloche
Maurice Cloche (17 June 1907, Commercy, Meuse – 23 March 1990, Bordeaux, France) was a French film director, screenwriter, photographer and film producer. Best known for his Oscar-winning film ''Monsieur Vincent'' (1947) he won a 1948 Special Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. ''Monsieur Vincent,'' a dramatization of the life of St. Vincent de Paul that starred Pierre Fresnay, won the Academy Award in 1947 for best foreign film. It also was honored as the best film in France that year. Mr. Cloche, whose career spanned more than a half-century, also made spy thrillers and films with religious and social themes. His best-known films include ''La Cage aux Oiseaux'' (''The Bird Cage''); ''Le Docteur Laennec,'' the story of the inventor of the stethoscope; ''Ne de Pere Inconnu'' (''Father Unknown'') and ''La Cage aux Filles (''The Girl Cage''). Jane Marken
Jane Marken (born Jeanne Berthe Adolphine Crabbe, sometimes credited as Jeanne Marken, 13 January 1895 in Paris 10th arrondissement – 1 December 1976 in Paris 4th arrondissement) was a French actress. She was the first wife of the actor Jules Berry. Marken began her film career under the aegis of Abel Gance in 1915. She made several films with Marcel Carné including ''Hotel du Nord'' (1938), and as Madame Hermine, the hotelier (a comic role) in ''Les Enfants du Paradis'' (''Children of Paradise'', 1945). Michel Etcheverry
Michel Etcheverry (16 December 1919 – 30 March 1999) was a French actor. First a teacher, he was fired in 1941 for refusing to make the Maréchal children sing, here we come! . He began his career in the theater as a stage manager, then joined the troupe of Louis Jouvet . He entered the Comédie-Française in 1961, was named member in 1964, honorary member in 1984. His repertoire includes many tragedies from the classical repertoire.
