Match Racing
A match race is a race between two competitors, going head-to-head. In sailboat racing it is differentiated from a fleet race, which almost always involves three or more competitors competing against each other, and team racing where teams consisting of 2, 3 or 4 boats compete together in a team race, with their results being combined. In horse racing, it has historically been a format used for one-off events, but in 2009 IMRA, the International Match Race Association was created to enable anyone to enter a one-on-one horse race in all-terrain half-mile loops. Lucy Macgregor
Lucy MacGregor (born 28 November 1986) is an English sailor. She was born in Poole, Dorset. , MacGregor is tall and weighs . She attended Bournemouth School for Girls and is a member of Poole Yacht Club. She started sailing at the age of six in Poole Harbour. MacGregor was candidate for selection for the 2008 Summer Olympics in the Yngling three-person keelboat class with crewmates Annie Lush and double Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson. Despite winning the bronze medal at the 2007 World Championships, the trio were overlooked for selection in favour of Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson who ended up winning gold in the Olympic event. In 2010 MacGregor teamed up with her younger sister Kate MacGregor, Annie Lush and Mary Rook to win gold at the ISAF women's match racing World Championship in Newport, Rhode Island, United States. Stephanie Roble
Stephanie Roble (born March 31, 1989) is an American sailor who is a Pan American Games medalist and a multi-medalist in the World Championships. Career After graduating from Old Dominion University, Roble dedicated herself to professional sports, being one of the founders of the Epic Racing team, in the Match Race category. As team captain, she won two bronze medals at the 2014 and 2015 World Championships, as well as being the 2014 champion of the Women's Match Racing International Series. In 2019, Roble won the silver medal at the Pan American Games, in the 49er FX class. Her partner was her compatriot Maggie Shea. The team was defeated by the Brazilian Olympic champion duo, Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, who won nine of the twelve races.
