Women's football in Turkey is the women's branch of football in Turkey and is governed by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). History Friendship matches Although Turkey is one of the first countries to adapt women's rights, its practical realization in every part of the society took time. Due to differentiation in the society between men's and women's sports, Turkish women fell behind men in sports. The slogan "football is a men's sport" caused that women were not interested in football in the early days. This incorrect assessment and approach hindered that the number of participants in women's football, like women audience, women footballers, women coaches, women managers and women referees, did not reach the desired level. The first recorded involvement of women in football took place when six women played in a mixed-gender match in Izmir on 24 May 1954. Turkish Women's Third Football League
The Turkish Women's Third Football League ( tr, Kadınlar 3. Futbol Ligi) is the fourth-level league competition for women's association football in Turkey. History The Women's Third League was established in 2014 launching its first season in the 2014–15. It replaced the Turkish Women's Regional Football League, which existed two seasons in 2009–10 and 2010–11. Format As of the 2021–22 season, 85 teams compete for promoting to the Women's Second League. They are divided into 16 groups according to their geographical location. The Turkish Women's Football Super League ( tr, Kadınlar Süper Ligi), formerly the First Women's Football League (also known as the ''Turkcell Women's Football Super League'' for sponsorship reasons), is the top level women's football league of Turkey. In the 2022–23 season, one group of 10 teams and one group of nine teams play a double round robin and finals to decide a champion club, which qualifies for a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League. On 8 March 2021, the International Women's Day, the Turkish Football Federation signed a sponsorship agreement with the Turkish mobile phone operator Turkcell. Dinarsuspor was a women's football club based in Istanbul, Turkey. Dinarsuspor was founded in 1991 by six women's footballers, who left Dostluk Spor. The team was the women's football side of the same-named club, which was established in 1982 by the carpeting and artificial turf producer Dinarsu. With the establishment of the Turkish Women's Football League by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in 1994, the team started to play regular matches. The team became champion already in the first ever league season in 1994. The team repeated their success in a row in the following three seasons also. The team won the Federation Cup in 1997 as well. Dinarsuspor took part at international tournaments. They became champion of the Schwäbisch Hall Tournament in Germany in 1996. The Alsancak Mustafa Denizli Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in İzmir, Turkey used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 15,000 and was built in 1929.
