Women's And Men's Home Internationals
The Women's and Men's Home Internationals are an amateur team golf championship for women and men, between the four Home Nations. Ireland are represented by the whole island of Ireland.The event is organised by The R&A. The inaugural event was held in 2022 and superseded separate Women's and Men's events. Format The championship is played over three days with the four teams competing against each other in individual matches. Each team has 16 players, 7 women and 9 men. A match consists of 7 foursomes (3 women and 4 men) and 14 singles (6 women and 8 men) each over 18 holes. The result is decided by team results with each team scoring one point for a team win and half a point for a halved match. Ties are resolved by the number of individual matches won. The teams compete in separate women's and men's competitions as well as the combined event. Machynys Peninsula Golf Club
Machynys, or Machynys Peninsula is a coastal area just to the south of Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, Wales. In the nineteenth century an industrial community lived here working at the brickworks and tinplate works that occupied the site. When the industrial activity ceased in the mid-twentieth century, the buildings were demolished and the site lay derelict. It has now been redeveloped as a golf course as part of the Llanelli Waterside regeneration plan. History Machynys translates from the Welsh as "Monk's Island", and thus, local legend holds that the area was home to a monastery built by Saint Pyr in 513, although there is no concrete evidence of its existence. Another meaning of the name's origin is that it was Calle "Bach ynys" meaning "small island", and the "b" turned into an "m" (Bachynys-Machynys). Anna Foster (born 1979) is an English radio news reporter and presenter, she presented the drivetime programme on 5 Live Monday to Friday. The daughter of a surveyor father (who also served as a magistrate) and a mother who worked as a nurse, she and her brother were born in South Shields. Educated in South Shields, while attending South Tyneside College doing her A-Levels, she worked as a Saturday girl on Metro Radio. Anna Dawson (born 27 July 1937) is an English actress and singer. Born in Bolton, Lancashire, Dawson spent part of her childhood in Tanganyika, where her father worked.
