Wollner Building
The Wollner Building is an historic, American commercial building that is located in Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, on Monument Square across from the Mifflin County Courthouse. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. History and architectural features Built in 1906, this historic structure is a three-story, vernacular, brick building with a chamfered corner that measures approximately thirty feet by ninety feet, sits on a rusticated stone base and has three wood storefronts. Its significance lies in its architecture, its connection with the urbanization of Lewistown, and its association with Calvin Greene, a prominent local businessman and founder of the Lewistown Trust Company, ''Note:'' This includes which was housed there for many years. Lewistown is a borough in and the county seat of Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is the principal city of the '' Lewistown, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area'', which encompasses all of Mifflin County. It lies along the Juniata River, northwest of Harrisburg. The number of people living in the borough in 1900 was 4,451; in 1910, 8,166; in 1940, 13,017; and in 2000, 8,998. The population was 8,561 at the 2020 census. Mifflin County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,143. Its county seat is Lewistown. The county was created on September 19, 1789, from parts of Cumberland County and Northumberland County. It was named for Thomas Mifflin, the first Governor of Pennsylvania. Geography The county terrain is formed by the folded Appalachian Mountain ridges which run from southwest to northeast across the county. The Mifflin County Historic Courthouse is an historic, American courthouse building that is located in Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. History and architectural features Built between 1842 and 1843, this historic structure is a two-and-one-half-story, brick building that was designed in the Greek Revival style, and is three-bays wide. The original building measured forty-eight feet by eighty-two feet. It was enlarged by forty-eight feet to the rear in 1878.
