Witten-Annen Nord Station
Witten-Annen Nord station is located in the Annen district of Witten in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station is currently classified as a category 6 station. It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 5. History ''Annen station'' was opened on 9 March 1849 by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company (german: link=no, Bergisch Märkischen Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, BME) on its original Elberfeld–Dortmund line and was served by passenger and freight trains. After the opening of the ''Annen Süd'' station on the Dortmund-Löttringhausen–Bochum-Langendreer line (known as the ''Rheinischer Esel''—“Rhenish donkey”) of the Rhenish Railway Company on 15 December 1880, it was renamed ''Annen Nord'' station. Witten-Annen
Since 1929, Annen has been a part of the City of Witten (since 1946 North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). As one of the eight boroughs of Witten, it is now called Witten-Annen. Before the incorporation with Witten in 1929, Annen was part of the administrative district Landkreis Hoerde. Today, Annen has about 19,000 inhabitants and is the biggest of all boroughs of Witten. Witten-Annen has an institute for Waldorf pedagogics, as well as a Waldorf school. This school annually hosts the international eurythmy festival, Forum Eurythmie. Witten Hauptbahnhof
Witten Hauptbahnhof is a railway station in the town of Witten in western Germany. It is situated southwest of the town. In 1849 the station was opened as ''Witten West'' by the '' Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft''. At the end of the 19th century the whole station was reconstructed, the new station building was designed by the architect Richard Witten Sauerbruch and opened in 1901. It is now part of The Industrial Heritage Trail (german: Route Industriekultur). In 1940 the station was renamed ''Witten Hauptbahnhof''.
