Wisconsin's 62nd Assembly District
The 62nd Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in Southeastern Wisconsin, the district covers most of the north half of Racine County, including the villages of Caledonia, North Bay, Raymond, and Wind Point, and part of the north side of the city of Racine. The district also contains the historic Wind Point Lighthouse, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Wingspread complex, and the John H. Batten Airport. The district is represented by Republican Robert Wittke Robert Otto Wittke Jr. (born September 23, 1957) is an accountant and Republican politician. Tom Weatherston
Tom Weatherston (born February 15, 1950) is an American industrial engineer and Republican politician. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2013 through 2019, representing the northern half of Racine County. Early life Born in Buffalo, New York, Weatherston served in the United States Air Force as a civil engineer and was stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He went to Erie Community College, where he received an associate degree. He then graduated from Buffalo State College, where he received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. In 1977, Weatherston was hired by the Modine Manufacturing Company and moved to Racine, Wisconsin. Political career In 2010, Weatherston was elected to the Caledonia, Wisconsin, Village Board of Trustees and served until 2013. Marathon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 138,013. Marathon County's seat is Wausau. It was founded in 1850, created from a portion of Portage County. At that time the county stretched to the northern border with the upper Michigan peninsula. It is named after the battlefield at Marathon, Greece. Mosinee is a city in Marathon County, Wisconsin. It is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 3,988 at the time of the 2010 census. History Early history The traditional inhabitants of the area were the Ojibwe, the Potawatomi and the Menominee. However, the name is the Hochunk Mōsį́nį, the "Cold Country," from ''mō'', an old form of ''mą'', meaning "earth, ground, land, country"; and ''sį́nį'', "cold." The Ojibwe ceded the territory to the United States in 1837 when they sold most of their land in what would become Wisconsin, though they were guaranteed the right to continue hunting, fishing, and gathering wild rice on the ceded lands. The 61st Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district covers most of Kenosha County. It includes the villages of Bristol, Paddock Lake, Pleasant Prairie, Salem Lakes, and Twin Lakes, and the western half of the village of Somers (west of Wisconsin Highway 31). The 21st Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district comprises most of Kenosha and Racine counties.
