Located in far northwestern Wisconsin, the district comprises most of St. Croix County, Wisconsin, St. Croix County along with parts of western Dunn County, Wisconsin, Dunn County and northeast Pierce County, Wisconsin, Pierce County. Star Prairie is a village in St. Croix County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 561 at the 2010 census. The village is located along the Apple River on the boundary between the Town of Star Prairie and the Town of Stanton. Geography Star Prairie is located at (45.198274, -92.531987). Barron County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,711. Its county seat is Barron. The county was created in 1859 and later organized in 1874. History The county was created in 1859 as Dallas County (named after Vice President George M. Dallas), with the county seat located at Barron. It was renamed Barron County on March 4, 1869. The county took the name Barron in honor of Wisconsin lawyer and politician Henry D. Luck, Wisconsin
Luck is a village in Polk County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,119 at the 2010 census. History Luck was originally two settlements, Luck on Big Butternut Lake, and West Denmark further west, founded by Danish immigrants in 1869 on the north and west shores of Little Butternut Lake and extending out for a few miles. The two settlements knew it was impractical to remain separate entities, but disagreed about which would be the center of town. The railroad settled the issue when it laid tracks near the eastern settlement. Luck was not incorporated until 1905, several years later than most surrounding villages. The Town of Eau Galle () is located in Dunn County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 797 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Eau Galle and the ghost town of Welch Point are located in the town. History One theory is that ''Eau Galle'' meant "bitter water". However, the placename ultimately is a modified version of the Eau Galle River's French name, ''Au Galet'', literally "with the gravel-bank". Eau Galle River
The Eau Galle River is a tributary of the Chippewa River in western Wisconsin in the United States. It is about 35 mi (56 km) long. Via the Chippewa River, it is part of the Mississippi River watershed. The Eau Galle River was named ', "river of the gravely/pebbly banks", by French explorers in the late 17th or early 18th century. Over time the spelling of ''galet'' changed to ''galle'', thus causing a 1905 mistake in attribution by Henry Gannett, author of a book on place names in the US, who assumed that the river's name meant "bitter water" in French. There is a persistence of the ''galet'' pronunciation in spite of the spelling change to ''galle''. It rises just north of Interstate 94 in St. Croix County near Baldwin and flows generally southwardly through Pierce County. It ends in Lake Pepin of the Mississippi River, about west of the village of Maiden Rock in Pierce County. The largest tributary is Lost Creek. Three small communities are located on the river: Centerville, Martell, and El Paso. While the land near the source is relatively flat, the river soon falls into a steep valley typical of the Driftless Area, with outcrops of sandstone and limestone. Located in western Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Buffalo and Pepin counties, along with most of Pierce County, and much of Trempealeau County. The 10th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in northwest Wisconsin, the district comprises nearly all of Polk and St. Croix counties, along with much of Dunn County and a part of northwest Pierce County.
