Windsor Royals (ice Hockey)
The Windsor Royals are a defunct Canadian Junior ice hockey club from Windsor, Nova Scotia. They were members of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and were 1998, 2001, and 2008 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B champions. History Founded in 1967 as a member of the Metro Valley Junior B Hockey League, the team became a Junior A team in 1977 but folded only two years later. They were the Metro Valley League's first ever champion in 1968. After a five-year hiatus, the Royals came back to help the Mainland Junior B Hockey League and since 1984 have been a prominent member of the league. The Royals are one of three teams to have won the Don Johnson Cup as Maritime Junior B Champions 3 times. The other two are the Sackville Blazers and the St. John's Jr. 50's. Windsor is a community located in Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a service centre for the western part of the county and is situated on Highway 101. The community has a history dating back to its use by the Mi'kmaq Nation for several millennia prior to European colonization. New Brunswick Junior C Hockey League
The New Brunswick Junior C Hockey League was a Junior ice hockey league in New Brunswick, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The winner of the playoffs competed in the Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championships. History Dating back to the late 1960s, the NBJHL was an elite Maritime league. The league would operate for almost 15 years before ultimately folding in 1983. With this, its successor, the NBJBHL, would replace the NBJHL and operate until 2003. Left with a void of no formal junior hockey league within the province, the NBJHL was formed in 2003. This would become the primary Jr. league in New Brunswick, a Jr. C league. While operating exclusively as a Junior C league, starting in 2007, the League was allowed to send its top team to the Don Johnson Cup as a Jr. B representative. East Hants Penguins
The East Hants Penguins are a Junior ice hockey team from East Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Penguins play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and are the 2007 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B Champions. History The Penguins were founded in 2000, but East Hants has a history that dates back decades in junior hockey. The O'Leary Eagles were a Canadian Junior ice hockey club from O'Leary, Prince Edward Island. They were members of the Island Junior Hockey League and were 2002 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B champions. History In their final year of operation, the O'Leary Eagles led the Island Junior Hockey League with a record of 25 wins, 3 losses, and 2 overtime losses. In the playoffs, they defeated the Kings County Sharks, Summerside Red Wings, and Sherwood Falcons to win the IJHL championship for the only time and for entry into the 2002 Don Johnson Cup. Woodstock Slammers
The Woodstock Slammers were a junior "A" hockey team based in Woodstock, New Brunswick. They played as part of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL). The team played their home games at the Carleton Civic Centre, formally known to fans as "Slammerland" or "Slammertown, Canada". The Membertou Junior Miners are a Canadian Junior ice hockey club from Membertou, Nova Scotia. They are members of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and are 1989 and 1997 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B champions and 1976 and 1977 Eastern League Junior A Champions. The team was located in Sydney, Nova Scotia up until 2005. The Sherwood Metros (formerly the Sherwood Falcons) are a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team located in Sherwood, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. They play in the Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League. History The Sherwood Falcons were founded in 2005, and have played in Charlottetown for their entire existence. They became defunct between 2009 and 2013, before being resurrected for the 2013–14 season. They were renamed the Metros in 2015. The Kensington Vipers are a Canadian Junior ice hockey club from Kensington, Prince Edward Island. They are members of the Island Junior Hockey League and are 2011 and 2013 Don Johnson Memorial Cup Atlantic Junior B champions. Team history The Kensington Vipers joined the Island Junior Hockey League in 1998 after the Kensington Granites Senior hockey team had folded and the Community Gardens arena was looking for a junior hockey client. After sponsorship stints as "Don Clark Insurance" and "Valley Truss and Metal", a full-time sponsor was found in 2003, as Moase Plumbing and Heating assumed sponsorship. Island Junior Hockey League
The Island Junior Hockey League is a Junior "B" ice hockey league in Prince Edward Island, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. History Since being founded in 1996, the IJHL has been strictly a Junior "B" League—one tier below the Maritime Junior A Hockey League and two tiers below the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League which both draw from the same region. The IJHL shares its name with the former Junior "A" league that played in the same region, the Island Junior Hockey League. In 2002, the O'Leary Eagles won the Don Johnson Cup as Maritime Junior B champions.
