''Windfall'' is a 2022 American crime thriller film directed by Charlie McDowell from a screenplay by Andrew Kevin Walker and Justin Lader. The film stars Jason Segel, Lily Collins, and Jesse Plemons. ''Windfall'' was released on March 18, 2022, by Netflix. Plot A wealthy CEO and his wife come to their vacation home only to discover a burglar. The CEO agrees to give him money and forget about the ordeal without calling the police, but the burglar locks them in a sauna. Returning to his car, the burglar spots a camera recording him. He returns to the house and confronts them. He now asks for $500,000 in cash. The CEO calls his assistant, who tells him that the money will arrive the following afternoon. Charles Malcolm McDowell (born July 10, 1983) is an American film director and screenwriter. He is most known for his film ''The One I Love (film), The One I Love'' (2014). Early life McDowell was born on July 10, 1983, in Los Angeles, California to English actor Malcolm McDowell and American actress Mary Steenburgen. He has an older sister named Lilly (born January 22, 1981) and three younger half-brothers from his father's marriage to Kelley Kuhr. McDowell's stepfather is actor Ted Danson, who married Steenburgen in 1995. Since 2014, McDowell has had a running gag, running joke at Steenburgen's expense, claiming on numerous occasions on social media that his mother is actually actress Andie MacDowell.
