Willie Ryan (jockey)
Willie Ryan (b 22 December 1964) is an ex-flat racing jockey from England who was based in the United Kingdom for most of his career. Ryan was apprenticed to the trainer Reg Hollinshead and won his first race at Windsor Racecourse in 1982. He was joint British flat racing Champion Apprentice in 1985. He joined Henry Cecil's stable and was second jockey to Steve Cauthen before becoming first jockey in 1993. He won The Derby on Benny the Dip for John Gosden in 1997. In 2004 he was awarded the Flat Jockey Special Recognition Award at the Lester Awards ceremony. Willie Ryan (Limerick Hurler)
William Ryan (11 November 1894 – 16 July 1969) was an Irish hurler who played for club sides Cappamore, Murroe and Claughaun and at inter-county level with Limerick. Career Ryan was just 15-years-old when he made his first appearance for Cappamore in the 1909 championship. Cappamore was not his only club, as he also won a Limerick JHC title with Murroe in 1917. Ryan also played Gaelic football at club level and captained Cappamore to a defeat by Foynes in the 1925 Limerick JFC final. He won a Limerick SHC title with the Claughaun in 1926. Ryan's 21-year club career came to an end with a defeat for Cappamore by Croom in the delayed 1929 Limerick SHC final. Ryan first appeared on the inter-county scene with Limerick in 1914 and continued to line until his retirement in 1928. He enjoyed his first success when he was part of the Limerick team that beat Wexford in the 1918 All-Ireland final. Willie Ryan (Tipperary Hurler)
Willie Ryan (born 29 December 1984 in Toomevara, County Tipperary) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Toomevara and has been a member of the Tipperary senior inter-county team since 2006. Playing career Club Ryan plays his club hurling with his local club in Toomevara and has enjoyed much success. In 2003 Ryan's side reached the final of the county senior championship with Thurles Sarsfields providing the opposition. A high-scoring game developed, however, at the full-time whistle Toomevara were the champions by 3-19 to 3-14 and Ryan collected a county winners' medal. This was a fourth consecutive county final defeat for Thurles Sarsfields. Toomevara later represented Tipperary in the provincial club championship, however, they were defeated at the semi-final stage. 2004 saw Ryan line out in a second consecutive county final.
