William James Gallagher (May 13, 1875 – August 13, 1946) was a Representative to the U.S. Congress from Minnesota; born in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota; attended the public schools, and was graduated from North High School in 1894; engaged as an editorial employee and proofreader in Minneapolis, MN, in 1895 and 1896; moved to Spokane, Washington, in 1897 and continued his former pursuits with a labor journal until 1899; returned to Minneapolis, and engaged as a trucker and clerk in freight houses until 1919; employed as a street sweeper for Hennepin County 1919–1927 and for the city of Minneapolis, from 1927 until his retirement in 1942; was elected as a Democrat to the 79th congress, and served from January 3, 1945, until his death; had been renominated to the 80th congress in 1946; died in a hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, August 13, 1946; interment in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. William Gallagher is a British writer and journalist. He has written Doctor Who audio plays for the Big Finish range, the stage play Manhattenhenge (2008–2009) and the Rhubarb Radio series Attachment (2009). His book on Alan Plater's '' The Beiderbecke Affair'' was published by the British Film Institute and Palgrave Macmillan on 28 September 2012. On publication of the book, he released an Author Video about the writing of it and a series of Beiderbecke podcasts: video interviews and audio commentaries for selected episodes of the Beiderbecke saga. From 2005 to 2010 he wrote and presented UK DVD Review, a podcast that peaked in the top 25 of all iTunes podcasts in all categories worldwide (BBC News reports). William Davis Gallagher (August 21, 1808 – June 27, 1894) was an American journalist and poet. Biography Davis was born on August 21, 1808, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later moved with his family to Mount Healthy, Ohio after the death of his father, a refugee from Ireland who had fled after the Irish Rebellion of 1803. He worked as an editor for various newspapers and in later years became famous for poetry. Alfred William Gallagher (17 May 1911 – 8 August 1990) was a New Zealand inventor, manufacturing engineer and businessman. He is notable for popularising the electric fence. Early life Alfred William Gallagher, later known as Bill Gallagher, was born in Hamilton, in the Waikato province of New Zealand, on 17 May 1911, to Alfred John Gallagher, a dairy farmer, and his wife, Sarah Matilda . The eldest of six children, he was initially educated at Te Kowhai School. In 1920, the family moved from their dairy farm at Horotiu to a larger property at Papamoa, in the Bay of Plenty. He started working fulltime on the farm in 1926, once he had completed his formal schooling. After having worked at The Dorchester in London, Gallagher arrived in South Africa in 1973 to take up an executive sous-chef position with local hotel chain Southern Sun. In 1982, Gallagher was elected president of the South African Chefs Association (SACA), and held that position for 21 years before becoming its honorary life president in 2003.
