William Wynne (historian)
William Wynne ( – May 1704) was a Welsh historian. Life Wynne was the youngest son of Robert Wynne (a canon of Bangor Cathedral and rector of Llanddeiniolen and Llaniestyn) and his wife Catherine Madryn, heiress of Llannerch Fawr. William Wynne's eldest brother was Robert Wynne. William Wynne was born before 12 November 1671 and educated at Jesus College, Oxford (like his father and elder brother). He matriculated in March 1688 and took his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1691. He became a Fellow of the college in 1692, and held this position until his death in 1704. After ordination, he became rector of Llanfachraeth, Anglesey, but appears not to have resided there. Whilst at Oxford, he was part of the circle of Edward Lhuyd, the Welsh naturalist, botanist, linguist, geographer and antiquary. William Andrew Wynne (March 27, 1869 – August 7, 1951) was a professional baseball pitcher. He played one game in Major League Baseball for the Washington Senators of the National League. Wynne went to school at Wake Forest University and began his professional career with the Columbia Senators in the South Atlantic League in 1892. On August 31, 1894, Wynne started the second game of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. William Wynne (born January 30, 1990) is an American hurdler who specializes in the 400 metre hurdles. He currently holds the world youth best in the 400 m hurdles (84 cm) with a time of 49.01 seconds, 0.85 seconds under the previous record set by South Africa's Marnus Kritzinger in 1999. He won two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics, which also earned him the 2007 USATF Youth Athlete of the Year award. William Patrick Wynn (born September 10, 1961) is an American businessman and politician, who was the mayor of Austin, Texas from 2003 to 2009. Family Born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, Wynn was the sixth of seven children. He attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Environmental Design in 1984. Although Wynn was born in East Texas, his family's roots in Austin and Central Texas run deep; two of his great-great-great grandparents, James and Julia Olive, settled in southern Williamson County in 1843. His great-grandfather, Daniel LeMaster of McDade, was the state representative for Bastrop County in the 1920s. Will's great-uncle, Ridley Ott, built and managed the Checker Front General Store, now FreshPlus, at 43rd and Duval in Hyde Park during the 1930s and 40s. William Wynn (January 15, 1949 – June 4, 2013) was an American football defensive end who played for five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1973 NFL season, 1973–1976 NFL season, 1976, and the Washington Redskins in 1977 NFL season, 1977. He was drafted by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 1973 NFL Draft. He played college football at Tennessee State University, Tennessee State. William Robert Maurice Wynne of Peniarth, Merionethshire (15 February 1840 – 5 February 1909), often referred to as W.R.M. Wynne, was a Conservative politician and prominent landowner who also made a notable contribution to the cultural life of Wales by donating the Peniarth Manuscripts to the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. Wynne also served as Conservative MP for Merioneth from 1865 to 1868. He stood down in 1868 when facing likely defeat by the Liberal candidate David Williams, following the Second Reform Act.
