William Haighton Turner (born 1867; date of death unknown) was a Welsh footballer who played as a forward and made five appearances for the Wales national team. Career Turner made his international debut for Wales on 26 February 1887 in the 1886–87 British Home Championship against England, which finished as a 0–4 away loss. The 1886–87 British Home Championship was the fourth international football tournament between the British Home Nations. Played during the second half of the 1886–87 football season, the competition was won by Scotland for the fourth consecutive time (although they had once shared victory with England). Ireland also achieved their first placing above the bottom of the table, finishing above Wales due to victory at home in their final match. England and Ireland began the competition in early February, England comprehensively defeating their visitors 7–0 in Sheffield and taking the initial tournament lead. The 1890–91 British Home Championship was an international football tournament between the British Home Nations. Despite strong showings from all four teams, England eventually won the trophy with victories in all three games including, as at the 1890 and 1892 competitions, matches against Wales and Ireland played simultaneously. Ireland notched up one of their highest ever wins, 7–2 over Wales, but still only finished third, whilst the Welsh ran Scotland close in their encounter, but ultimately scored zero points.
