Denbigh District of Boroughs (variously referred to as Denbigh District, Denbigh Boroughs or just Denbigh) was a parliamentary constituency centred on the town of Denbigh in Wales. The Acts of Union ( gd, Achd an Aonaidh) were two Acts of Parliament: the Union with Scotland Act 1706 passed by the Parliament of England, and the Union with England Act 1707 passed by the Parliament of Scotland. They put into effect the terms of the Treaty of Union that had been agreed on 22 July 1706, following negotiation between commissioners representing the parliaments of the two countries. 1707 British General Election
The first Parliament of the Kingdom of Great Britain was established in 1707 after the merger of the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland. It was in fact the 4th and last session of the 2nd Parliament of Queen Anne suitably renamed: no fresh elections were held in England or in Wales, and the existing members of the House of Commons of England sat as members of the new House of Commons of Great Britain. Sir William Williams, 2nd Baronet (''c.'' 1665 – 20 October 1740), of Glascoed, Llansilin, Denbighshire was a Welsh landowner and Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1708 to 1710. Early life Williams was the son of Sir William Williams, 1st Baronet, of Gray's Inn and his wife Margaret Kyffin. His father was Speaker of the House of Commons. Williams married Jane Thelwall, the great-granddaughter of Sir John Wynn, 1st Baronet, and daughter and heiress of Edward Thelwall of Plas-y-Ward in 1684. The name Thelwall is cognate with the name Llewellyn. In 1695, he was appointed Sheriff of Denbighshire. He succeeded his father to the baronetcy on 11 July 1700. He became Sheriff of Montgomeryshire for 1704, Sheriff of Merioneth for 1706 and Sheriff of Caernarvonshire for 1707. Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales.
