William Montgomery (Pennsylvania Soldier)
William Montgomery (August 3, 1736 – May 1, 1816) was a colonial-American patriot, pioneer, soldier, public servant, and abolitionist. As a revolutionary patriot, he helped the Province of Pennsylvania declare independence from the British Empire, establish the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and save the American Revolution during the Ten Crucial Days. As a soldier, he served a total of 34 years, including 14 years as major general and division commander. As a public servant, he was elected or appointed to 16 different offices, including the Continental Congress, Pennsylvania Congress, and United States Congress, and co-authorized the creation of the United States Navy's first six frigates. Bill Montgomery (cricketer)
William Montgomery (4 March 1878 – 14 November 1952) played first-class cricket for Surrey and Somerset between 1901 and 1907. He was born at Staines, then in Middlesex and died at Peterborough. Montgomery was a right-arm fast bowler and, in first-class cricket, a lower-order batsman, though he batted as an opener at times in other matches and in his games for Somerset he scarcely bowled at all. He was on the ground staff at The Oval from 1896 and appeared in Surrey second eleven matches from 1898, playing regularly in Minor Counties matches from 1899. He made his first-class cricket debut against W. G. Grace's London County in 1901, taking four wickets in the match, including Gilbert Jessop twice. But in the next game against Hampshire he failed to take a wicket and he disappeared from first-team cricket for two seasons. William Reading Montgomery (July 10, 1801 – May 31, 1871) was a career United States Army officer who served in the Second Seminole War and Mexican–American War. He was a brigadier general in the Union Army from May 17, 1861 to April 4, 1864 during the American Civil War. William Fetherstone Montgomery
William Fetherstone Montgomery (1797–1859) was an Irish obstetrician credited for first describing the Glands of Montgomery. Life Montgomery was born, raised and educated in Dublin, Ireland. He attended medical school at Trinity College Dublin. After graduating Montgomery was appointed professor of Midwifery at the College of Physicians in Dublin and would later serve two terms as President of the college. His papers and studies were focused on the breast, in particular changes to the nipple and areola. He was instrumental in establishing the chair of obstetrics at the Irish College of Physicians. He died in 1859 of angina pectoris and buried at Mount Jerome Cemetery in Dublin. Montgomery was married; his great-grandson H. L. William Allen Montgomery
William Allen Montgomery (November 16, 1829 – December 5, 1905) was an American lawyer, planter and Baptist minister. Trained as a lawyer in Tennessee, he was a cotton planter in Texas in the 1850s and served as a Confederate chaplain in the American Civil War. He served as the President of Carson–Newman University from 1888 to 1892. Early life William Allen Montgomery was born on November 16, 1829, in Jefferson County, Tennessee. His father was William H. Billy Wayne Montgomery, also known as Coach Montgomery (born July 7, 1937), is a former educator who represented the Bossier City-based District 9 in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1988-2008. He was elected as a Democrat, but he switched affiliation to the Republican Party on October 3, 2006. William Gerard Montgomery (born March 2, 1967) is an American attorney who has served as a justice of the Arizona Supreme Court since September 2019. He previously served as the County Attorney for Maricopa County, Arizona from 2010 to 2019. Early life Montgomery is a West Point graduate and a Gulf War veteran.
