William McDougall (politician, Born 1822)
William McDougall (January 25, 1822 – May 29, 1905) was a Canadians, Canadian lawyer, politician, and one of the Father of Confederation#Fathers of Confederation, Fathers of Confederation. Biography William McDougall was born near York, Upper Canada (now Toronto, Ontario) to Daniel McDougall and Hannah Matthews. William was the third generation of United Empire Loyalists to settle in York. In 1793, his paternal great-great-grandparents were among the first twelve families to move to York along with 450 British troops. Those soldiers then built Fort York to protect against American invasion. McDougall received his education at Victoria College in Cobourg, Ontario, Cobourg, Upper Canada, and in 1847, began practicing law as an attorney and solicitor in Upper Canada. In 1862, he was called to the Upper Canada Bar. In 1849, William McDougall's office in Toronto was the meeting place for the Clear Grit political movement. William McDougall (January 16, 1816 – May 2, 1886) was a shipbuilder, ship owner and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Hants County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1871 to 1874 as a Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia, Liberal-Conservative member. He was the son of Duncan McDougall. McDougall married Sarah O'Brien. He drowned at sea during a voyage between Philadelphia and Havre Boucher, Nova Scotia, Havre. William McDougall (Quebec Politician)
William McDougall, (1831 – March 3, 1886) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Quebec, Canada. He represented Three Rivers in the House of Commons of Canada from 1868 to 1878 as a Conservative member. He was born in Scotland in 1831, the son of John McDougall, and came to Lower Canada with his family while still young. He studied law and was called to the bar in 1851. McDougall was elected to the federal parliament by acclamation in an 1868 by-election after the sitting member resigned. In 1873, he became a Queen's Counsel. He was a director of the Phillipsburgh, Farnham and Yamaska Railway. He resigned his seat in 1878 to allow Hector-Louis Langevin to have a seat in the House of Commons. In 1880, he was named to the Quebec Superior Court for Ottawa district. He died in Aylmer in 1886. William McDougall (psychologist)
William McDougall FRS (; 22 June 1871 – 28 November 1938) was an early 20th century psychologist who spent the first part of his career in the United Kingdom and the latter part in the United States. He wrote a number of influential textbooks, and was important in the development of the theory of instinct and of social psychology in the English-speaking world. McDougall was an opponent of behaviourism and stands somewhat outside the mainstream of the development of Anglo-American psychological thought in the first half of the 20th century; but his work was known and respected among lay people. Biography He was born at Tonge, Middleton in the Manchester area on 22 June 1871, the second son of Isaac Shimwell McDougall and his wife Rebekah Smalley. His father was one of the McDougall brothers who developed self-raising flour, but concentrated on his own business as a chemical manufacturer. William Currie McDougall
William Currie McDougall (1840–1920) was a Scottish minister of the Free Church of Scotland who is remembered as a poet and for an infamous and unusual court case in which he became embroiled, known as the "Coatbridge Free Church Scandal". Life He was born in Glasgow on 9 January 1840 the son of Alexander McDougall, a horn spoon maker, and his wife, Agnes Currie. He moved in his youth to Saltcoats and lived in a miner's cottage on Raise Street in the town centre. Although some records state there was "no mining" in Saltcoats this is incorrect. The Stevenston coal mine lay on the edge of the town, He emigrated to America in his youth and studied Theology there. He was ordained in the church of Plato, Indiana in 1871. He also spent time in California which was the subject of several of his poems. He returned to Scotland in 1878 and was licensed to preach by the Free Church of Scotland in 1879. Bill McDougall
William Henry McDougall (born August 10, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He is best known for his record-setting scoring performance during the 1992–1993 AHL playoffs, in which he set the AHL records for goals, assists, and points in a single playoff season. Career Amateur As a youth, McDougall played in the 1979 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Toronto. McDougall signed with the Erie Panthers following a successful season of senior hockey with the senior Port-aux-Basque Mariners. After scoring 80 goals and 148 points in just 57 games, he was signed by the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and finished the end of the 1989–90 season with their farm club, the Adirondack Red Wings. William James "Bill" MacDougall (born May 8, 1944) is a Canadian clergyman and former political figure. He represented 4th Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1978 to 1985 as a Progressive Conservative. He was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, the son of James Lorn MacDougall and Gertrude Isabel MacLean, and was educated in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, , Prince of Wales College, B.A., Pine Hill Divinity School, M. Div., (now the Atlantic School of Theology) and New College, the University of Edinburgh, PhD. In 1966, he married Patricia Ann Campbell. MacDougall served congregations in Freetown, Lot 16, and North Bedeque, Prince Edward Island. He also taught religious studies courses at the University of Prince Edward Island. William Dugald MacDougall (June 20, 1868 – March 5, 1943) was a rear admiral of the Fifth Naval District in the United States Navy. Biography He was born at Auburn, New York, on June 20, 1868, to Clinton Dugald MacDougall and Eva Sabine. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1889. He married Charlotte Sackett Stone. One of their daughters married Henrik Kauffmann, Denmark's ambassador to the United States during World War II. He retired on July 1, 1932. He died on March 5, 1943, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery Arlington National Cemetery is one of two national cemeteries run by the United States Army.
