William Kennedy (North Carolina Politician)
William Kennedy (July 31, 1768 – October 11, 1834) was a member of the United States House of Representatives from North Carolina. He was born near Washington, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1782. Kennedy was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Eighth United States Congress in 1802, serving from 1803 to 1805. He was again elected to Congress in 1808, serving in the Eleventh United States Congress. Kennedy's re-election bid was defeated by Thomas Blount in 1810, though Kennedy was subsequently elected in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by Blount's death. William Denholm Kennedy
William Denholm Kennedy (1813-1865) was a Scottish historical, genre and landscape painter. Life William Denholm Kennedy, born at Dumfries on 16 June 1813, was educated in early life at Edinburgh. When seventeen years of age he came to London, and in 1833 entered the school of the Royal Academy. Here he began a lifelong friendship with William Etty, , who sensibly influenced his style as an artist. In 1833 he sent his first pictures to the Royal Academy, ''A Musical Party'' and ''The Toilet'', and continued to exhibit there almost every year until his death. In 1835 he won the Academy gold medal for an historical painting, ''Apollo and Idas'', and in 1840, being awarded the travelling allowance, went to Italy, where he spent two years in study at Rome. William Kennedy (coach)
William Kennedy (2 February 1912 – 12 December 1989) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a half back with various clubs in the 1930s. Playing career Kennedy was born in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, Scotland but by 1932 he was a junior player on the south coast of England at Portsmouth. He made a solitary appearance for Portsmouth in their 1931-32 First Division campaign before moving north to Carlisle United in July 1933. He made a handful of appearances for Carlisle before moving in September 1935 to join fellow Third Division North side Crewe Alexandra. In August 1936 he was one of several players signed by Southampton manager George Goss as he attempted to rebuild the team that had struggled for several years in the Second Division. Kennedy formed a useful partnership with fellow half-backs Cyril King and Billy Kingdon, but once again the Saints struggled to avoid relegation, finishing 19th in the table. William Kennedy (footballer, Born 1890)
William Kennedy (21 November 1890 – 13 October 1915) was a footballer who played as a centre forward for West Ham United. Born in Grays to Scottish parents, the fourth of eight children, Kennedy attended Borough Road College between 1913 and 1915. He then worked as a schoolteacher and played amateur football with Grays Athletic before moving to Northfleet United along with Charlie Buchan in 1909. There, he was part of the team that won the Kent League, the Thames & Medway Combination, and the Kent Senior Cup in 1909–10. He scored over 50 goals in all competitions that season, including the opening goal of the Kent Senior Cup Final, against Chatham, leading the ''South Eastern Gazette'' to describe him as "probably the Cementers' best catch of the season". William James "Jim" Kennedy is a British geologist. Jim Kennedy studied at the University of London. Kennedy was a Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford and Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. He was curator of the Geological Collections at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Kennedy was awarded the Prestwich Medal by the Geological Society of London in 1990, the Neville George Medal of the Geological Society of Glasgow in 1992 and the Gold Medal for Zoology of the Linnean Society in 2002, and is the first recipient of the Palaeontographical Medal awarded by the Palaeontographical Society in 2014. William Quarrier Kennedy FRS FRSE FGS (1903–1979) was a Scottish geologist. He specialised in the geology of Scotland and Africa. In authorship he is usually referred to as W. Q. Kennedy. Early life and education Kennedy was born on 30 November 1903 at the William Quarrier School for Orphans in Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, where his father, John Gordon Kennedy, was headmaster. He was named after the school's founder. He was educated at his father's school alongside the orphans then at Glasgow High School. He studied agriculture at Glasgow University, graduating BSc in 1926, then did a further degree in geology, graduating BSc in 1927. The latter was under John Walter Gregory. Admiral Sir William Robert Kennedy (4 March 1838 – 9 October 1916) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Commander-in-Chief, The Nore. Biography Born in Naples, Italy where his father John Kennedy was the British chargé d'affaires, Kennedy joined the Royal Navy in 1851 and served with the Naval Brigade during the Crimean War. He was present at the bombardment of Canton in 1856, at the Battle of Fatshan Creek in 1857 and at the attack on the Peiho Forts in 1858 during the Second Opium War.
