William Chester Jordan
William Chester Jordan (born April 7, 1948) is an American medievalist, in which field he is a Haskins Medal winner. He is currently the Dayton-Stockton Professor of History at Princeton University. He is also a former Director of the Program in Medieval Studies at Princeton. Jordan has studied and published on the Crusades, English constitutional history, gender, economics, Judaism, and, most recently, church-state relations in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Biography Jordan earned his PhD at Princeton, where he was a student of Joseph R. Strayer, in 1973. He was Director of the Shelby Cullom Davis Center for Historical Studies from 1994 to 1999. In 1996, he won the annual Charles Homer Haskins Medal from the Medieval Academy of America for his outstanding work on the Great Famine, published in ''The Great Famine: Northern Europe in the Early Fourteenth Century''. William Jorden
William John Jorden (May 3, 1923 – February 20, 2009) was a diplomatic correspondent for ''The New York Times'', United States Ambassador to Panama, and author. Jorden studied at Yale University, receiving a bachelor's degree in international relations in 1947. His university studies were punctuated by service in the Army during World War II, during which he learned Japanese at Yale and the University of Michigan. He received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in 1948. On completion of his studies, he worked for the '' New York Herald Tribune'', the ''Associated Press'' and, from 1952, ''The New York Times''. William Brian Jordan, Baron Jordan, (born 28 January 1936), known as Bill Jordan, is a British economist and Labour politician. The son of Walter and Alice Jordan, he was educated at the Barford Road Secondary Modern School in Birmingham. Jordan was President of the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU), and then its successor, the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union (AEEU), from 1986 to 1994. During the same time, he was a member of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) General Council. William II Jordan ( ca, Guillem Jordà; oc, Guilhèm Jordan) (died 1109) was the count of Berga beginning in 1094, the count of Cerdanya beginning in 1095, and regent of the County of Tripoli beginning in 1105. He was the son of Count William I of Cerdanya and Sança, daughter of Count Ramon Berenguer I of Barcelona. William Henry Jordan (1911–1997) was an American lawman, United States Marine and author. Biography Born in 1911 in Louisiana, he served for over 30 years with the United States Border Patrol. He also served with the United States Marine Corps Reserve during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Marine Reserve as a colonel. Jordan is credited with developing the 'Jordan' or 'Border Patrol' style of holster. The Jordan rig is rigid and unmoving, always holding the gunbutt in precisely the same relationship to the gun hand.
