William James
William James (January 11, 1842 – August 26, 1910) was an American philosopher, historian, and psychologist, and the first educator to offer a psychology course in the United States. James is considered to be a leading thinker of the late 19th century, one of the most influential philosophers of the United States, and the "Father of American psychology". Along with Charles Sanders Peirce, James established the philosophical school known as pragmatism, and is also cited as one of the founders of functional psychology. A ''Review of General Psychology'' analysis, published in 2002, ranked James as the 14th most eminent psychologist of the 20th century. A survey published in ''American Psychologist'' in 1991 ranked James's reputation in second place, after Wilhelm Wundt, who is widely regarded as the founder of experimental psychology.

William James (bishop)
William James (1542 – 12 May 1617) was an English academic and bishop. Life William James graduated with an MA degree at Christ Church, Oxford, in 1565. He was Master of University College, Oxford, in 1572, and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford in 1581, and again in 1590. He became Dean of Christ Church in 1584. Online edition, January 2008. James became Dean of Durham in 1596, where he was a witness to the decay of agriculture in northeast England. He was Bishop of Durham from 1606. In early 1611, James had custody of Arbella Stuart, with the intention of the King to take her north to Durham. In the event, Arbella was moved from Lambeth to be confined at Barnet, while the bishop travelled north leaving Sir James Croft in charge, and for health reasons did not follow, being moved to East Barnet. William "Froggie" James
William "Froggie" James, an African-American man, was lynched and his dead body mutilated on November 11, 1909 by a mob in Cairo, Illinois after he was charged with the rape and murder of 23-year-old shop clerk Anna Pelley. James was denied due process and killed before the police investigation had been completed. The townspeople of Cairo formed a mob and murdered him, along with a second prisoner from the town jail whose trial had been delayed. The lynching drew crowds of thousands, and led the Illinois State Legislature to pass a series of anti-lynch and anti-mob laws that led to major reforms throughout the Midwest involving the sentencing and protections for African American people in Illinois. The lynching also mobilized advocacy groups in the state to push for more legal protections of African-American communities in smaller towns. William James was an early and prolific photographer who chronicled Toronto, Ontario. His works have been widely collected and republished. James came to Canada, from England, in 1906, when he was forty years old. He made freelance photography his occupation in 1909, and was the founding President of the Canadian Photographers Association. Mike Filey, the author of a long-running column in the ''Toronto Sun'', on the history of Toronto, described James as a technical innovator. The City of Toronto Archives hosts a collection of over 6,000 of James's photographs. William Dodge James, (1854–1912) was the son of a wealthy American merchant, who was raised and educated in England. He married Evelyn Elizabeth Forbes, daughter of the Forbes baronets, 4th Baronet of Newe, who became a celebrated society hostess of the period. Edward VII, Edward, Prince of Wales, was one of the frequent visitors to their West Dean country estate in West Sussex. Early life William's father, Daniel James (businessman), Daniel, was the son of a Connecticut farmer who when young had walked barefoot to New York to save wear on his shoes. William James (engineer)
William James (15 November 1854 – 16 February 1889) was a British engineer, who worked in India. William James was son of Edward James, J.P., of Greenbank House, Plymouth. He was educated at the nearby private school of Dr. P. Holmes, of Mannamead. From 1872, he served a pupilage of three years to S. W. Jenkin, during which he was engaged in connection with the parliamentary and working plans and sections of several branch lines for the Cornwall Minerals Railway, the Fal Valley Railway and the Truro and Penzance Railway. For one year from 1875 to 1876, he was a student at the School of Practical Engineering at Crystal Palace under W. J. Wilson. In 1876 he went to India, however, failing to obtain employment as an engineer, he became a pupil of H. Whymper, of the Murree Brewery, and was occupied for fifteen months on the water supply for the Murree Brewery Company in the Punjab.

William Milbourne James (judge)
Sir William Milbourne James, (29 June 1807 – 7 June 1881) was a Welsh barrister and judge. A Chancery specialist, he was appointed to the Court of Chancery of England in 1869. The next year, he was appointed Lord Justice of Appeal in Chancery (Lord Justice of Appeal from 1877), serving until his death in 1881. Early life and family James was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, in 1807 to Christopher James, a prosperous provision merchant, and his wife, Ann.Lloyd (1958), pg 428. He was baptised Presbyterian.
