William Hoare
William Hoare of Bath (c. 1707 – 12 December 1792) was a British portraitist, painter and printmaker. From c. 1740 to 1759, he was the leading Oil painting, oil portraitist at Bath, Somerset, until Thomas Gainsborough arrived in the town. Noted for his pastels, he was a foundation member of the Royal Academy.Newby (2006a) Life Born near Eye, Suffolk, Eye, Suffolk, Hoare received a gentleman's education in Faringdon. He showed an aptitude for drawing and was sent to London to study under Giuseppe Grisoni, who had left Florence for London in 1715. He remained in Rome for nine years, returning to London in 1737/8. William Hoare (cricketer, Born 1847)
William Hoare (15 September 1847 – 22 July 1925) was an English first-class cricketer, cricket administrator, banker and brewer. The son of Henry Hoare and Lady Mary Marsham, he was born at Westminster in September 1847. He was educated at Eton College, before going up to St John's College, Cambridge. After graduating from Cambridge, he went into the family businesses, becoming a partner at Hoares Bank and at Hoare & Co. Brewery which was based in the Docklands. Hoare later made a single appearance in first-class cricket for the Gentlemen of Kent against the Gentlemen of England at Canterbury in 1879. He was absent in the Gentlemen of Kent first innings, but did bat in their second innings, scoring 9 runs before being dismissed by W. G. Grace. He was elected president of Kent County Cricket Club in 1900. Hoare died at Benenden in July 1925.Riding and Driving Display. William Hoare (23 October 1868 – 16 December 1954) was an Australian cricketer. He played fourteen first-class matches for Queensland from 1892–93 to 1902–03. Cricket career As of 1883 Hoare was playing for Unions cricket club in Brisbane. In 1884 he moved to Gregorys club, and in 1886 he played for Windsor club. In 1887 he played for a combined team representing the clubs competing in Brisbane Junior Cricket against a combined Dinmore and Goodna side. In 1888 he played for Nelson cricket club. By early 1890 he was playing for Pembroke cricket club in the Southern Queensland Cricket Union competition, but he moved to the South Brisbane Cricket Club later in the year. By 1893 he was playing for Graziers' Cricket Club. William Henry Hoare
William Henry Hoare (1809–1888) was an English cleric and author. Life Born on 31 October 1809 at Penzance, he was the second son of William Henry Hoare (1776–1819) of Broomfield House, Battersea, Surrey, and his Louisa Elizabeth Noel, daughter of Sir Gerard Noel, 2nd Baronet. He graduated B.A. in 1831 as a member of St John's College, Cambridge, was a wrangler, obtained a first class in the Classical Tripos, and was bracketed with Joseph Blakesley for the Chancellor's medals. He proceeded M.A. in 1834. He was a Fellow of the college from 1833 to 1835. By the mid-1830s Hoare had married, and was living at Ashurst Park near Tunbridge Wells. His brother Henry Hoare started living at Staplehurst, not far away, at this period, shortly before his marriage of 1836. Ordained in 1841, Hoare became that year a curate of All Saints' Church, Southampton. Poor health prevented Hoare taking further preferment. He devoted himself to study, and became a Hebrew scholar.
