William H. Beatty
William Henry Beatty (February 18, 1838 – August 4, 1914) was the 15th Chief Justice of California from 1889 to 1914. Previously, he was chief justice of the Nevada Supreme Court from 1879 to 1880. Early life and education On February 18, 1838, Beatty was born in a small village of Monclova, Lucas County, Ohio (near Toledo) to H. O. Beatty and Margaret Boone Runyan. Around 1840, his family returned to Kentucky, where his parents were originally from. He attended public schools and in 1853, when he was 15 years old, his family moved to Sacramento, California and his father became a successful lawyer. When Beatty was 17 years old, he went East for his education and studied at the University of Virginia for two years, but did not receive a degree. California Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of California is the highest and final court of appeals in the courts of the U.S. state of California. Thomas Bard McFarland (April 19, 1828 – September 16, 1908) was a miner, politician and judge in the U.S. state of California. He served as a California State Assembly, state assemblyman, Superior Courts of California, Superior Court judge, and associate justice of the Supreme Court of California. Biography McFarland was born in 1828 near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College, Marshall College (1846) and soon thereafter reading law, studied law with his cousin, Robert M. Bard, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He was admitted to practice in 1849. Instead of commencing practice, however, he headed to California, arriving September 1850, and was a gold miner for three years. Hamilton is an abandoned mining town located in the White Pine Range, in western White Pine County, Nevada, United States. History Hamilton appeared after the discovery of rich silver ore at Treasure Hill. The first settlers found shelter in local caves, which were numerous.
