William Frederick Roome
William Frederick Roome (November 21, 1841 – September 1, 1921) was a physician and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Middlesex West in the House of Commons of Canada from 1887 to 1896 as a Conservative member. He was born in Oxford Township, Canada West. Middlesex West
Middlesex West was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1968. It was located in the province of Ontario. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867 which divided the County of Middlesex into three ridings: Middlesex North, Middlesex West and Middlesex East. The West Riding initially consisted of the Townships of Delaware, Caradoc, Metcalfe, Mosa and Ekfrid, and the Village of Strathroy. In 1882, it was redefined to include the townships of Adelaide, Euphemia, the villages of Glencoe, Newbury and Wardsville, and to exclude the township of Carradoc. The Province of Canada (or the United Province of Canada or the United Canadas) was a British colony in North America from 1841 to 1867. Its formation reflected recommendations made by John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham, in the Report on the Affairs of British North America following the Rebellions of 1837–1838. Newbury is an incorporated village in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in Middlesex County. As of the 2016 census, its population is 466. It is located in the southwestern corner of the county, entirely surrounded by the municipality of Southwest Middlesex. The Four Counties Health Services Hospital is based in Newbury and is part of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance. Donald Mackenzie Cameron (November 11, 1843 – May 12, 1936) was a Scottish-born merchant, journalist and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Middlesex West in the House of Commons of Canada from 1883 to 1887 as a Liberal member. Cameron was born in Dingwall and was educated in Edinburgh and London, Ontario, having come to Canada in 1859. In 1879, he married Victoria Wilson Gooderham. He worked with the London ''Prototype'' and the Toronto '' Globe''. Cameron served as deputy reeve in 1879 and reeve from 1881 to 1883 for Strathroy and was warden for Middlesex County in 1883. He was also a member of the local school board. Cameron was elected in an 1883 by-election held after the election of George William Ross was declared invalid. William Samuel Calvert (March 3, 1859 – February 22, 1930) was a Canadian politician. Born in Township of Warwick, Lambton County, Canada West, Calvert was educated at the Public School of Warwick and at Watford Seminary. A manufacturer, he was Reeve of Metcalfe and Warden of Middlesex. He was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the electoral district of Middlesex West in the general elections of 1896.
