William Crook (politician)
William Herbert Crook (April 18, 1925 – October 29, 1997) was an American preacher turned politician, national director of the Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program and US Ambassador to Australia. William Herbert Crook was born in Momence, Illinois on April 18, 1925. In 1954, Crook married Eleanor Butt, daughter of Howard Edward Butt Sr., the founder of the H-E-B H-E-B Grocery Company, LP, is an American privately held supermarket chain based in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 340 stores throughout the U.S. state of Texas, as well as in northeast Mexico. The company also operates Central Market, an u ... grocery store chain. They had three children, William Crook Jr., Elizabeth Crook, and Noel Moore. He died on October 29, 1997, at the age of 72. William Pascoe Crook
William Pascoe Crook (1775–1846), a missionary, schoolmaster and pastor. He was born in Dartmouth, Devon, England on 29 April 1775. He was the first missionary to document the Marquesas Islands in an ethnographical account after he was sent by the London Missionary Society, embarking on board ''Duff'' in June 1796. Initially he was accompanied by John Harris but was left to his work alone when Harris travelled with the ship to Tahiti after Crook had landed in Vaitahu Bay. In 1798 the whaler ''Butterworth'' visited the Marquesas. Crook embarked on her to return to England, which he did when she arrived there in May 1799. He was responsible for the raising and education of Pōmare III, the infant King of Tahiti, before he died prematurely in 1827. Crook died 14 June 1846 and was buried in the Old Melbourne Cemetery. Billy Crook (American Soccer)
Billy Crook (born April 3, 1964) is a former U.S. soccer defender who spent two seasons in the North American Soccer League, eight in Major Indoor Soccer League, two in the Western Soccer Alliance, at least two in the Continental Indoor Soccer League, and four in the American Professional Soccer League. He also earned one cap with the U.S. national team. He currently coaches youth soccer in Sumner, Washington. Professional career Crook was born in Kent, Washington and has 7 siblings, Charlie Crook, Ronald Crook, Robert Crook, Brent Crook, Jennette Crook, Joell Crook and Jody Crook. He attended Kent-Meridian High School, graduating in 1982. That year, the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League (NASL) drafted Crook and he bypassed college to turn professional. Billy Crook (English Footballer)
William Charles Crook (7 June 1926 – 29 May 2011) was an English footballer who spent the majority of his playing career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, with whom he won the 1949 FA Cup. Career Crook first joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 1940 aged 14, eventually signed professional forms three years later. He made his debut in a League War Cup tie on 10 January 1942 against Blackpool, en route to lifting the trophy. He made 121 wartime appearances for the club in total, as well as guesting for Aldershot and Chelsea. He became a regular first team player when league football recommenced in 1946, and held his place over the next six seasons. He was part of the team that lifted the FA Cup in 1949, beating Leicester City 3–1 at Wembley. However, Crook lost his place in the 1952–53 season to Ron Flowers and left for Walsall in October 1954.
