Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. MBE (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley (formerly Wiley Kat), is a British grime MC, rapper, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Bow, London. Wiley is considered a key figure in the creation of grime music and often labelled the "Godfather of Grime". In the early 2000s, he independently released a series of highly influential eskibeat instrumentals on white label vinyl, such as the first in the series "Eskimo" and is known as a grime MC both for his solo work and for material released with his crew Roll Deep. Wiley first tasted success as a member of UK garage crew Pay As U Go, with whom he had a top 40 hit, " Champagne Dance" in 2001. ''The Ascent'' is the ninth studio album by English rapper and producer Wiley. The album was released on 1 April 2013, by Warner Music Group and Boy Better Know, after being delayed twice. ''The Ascent'' succeeds '' Evolve or Be Extinct'' which was released in January 2012. The album features a variety of experimental genres, varying from dance pop to grime. The lead single "Heatwave", featuring Ms D, peaking at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Wiley's first number 1 as a solo artist. This was followed by " Can You Hear Me? (Ayayaya)" featuring Skepta, JME and Ms D, " Reload" featuring Chip and Ms D, all of which peaked in the top 10. ''Winner Stays On'' is the fourth studio album by London-based grime music collective Roll Deep, it was released on 8 November 2010. Three singles have been released from the album, including "Good Times" and " Green Light", which both went to number 1 in the UK, plus the top 30 hit "Take Control", which features Alesha Dixon. Virgin Records is a record label owned by Universal Music Group. Relentless Records is a British boutique and independent record label currently headed by co-founder Shabs Jobanputra.
