Wilde Leck
The Wilde Leck is a mountain, , in the Stubai Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It rises immediately west of the ''Sulztalferner'' glacier and towers above the Ötztal valley, 5.5 km northwest of Sölden. It has a rocky summit made of solid granite and prominent arêtes. In the Stubai Alps the Wilde Leck is one of the most difficult summits to climb, because its easiest route runs initially over glaciers and then up a rock face that is assessed as climbing grade III (UIAA). Just north of the Wilde Leck ("Wild Leck") is the ''Zahme Leck'' ("Tame Leck", ). Schrankogel
The Schrankogel, 3497 m (called the ''Schrankogl'' on the AV map) is the second highest mountain in the Stubai Alps. The northeast side of the Schrankogel is steep and snowy; from all other sides the Schrankogel has a rocky character. An arête ( ) is a narrow ridge of rock which separates two valleys. It is typically formed when two glaciers erode parallel U-shaped valleys. Arêtes can also form when two glacial cirques erode headwards towards one another, although frequently this results in a saddle-shaped pass, called a col. Alpine Club Guide
The ''Alpine Club Guides'' (german: Alpenvereinsführer, commonly shortened to ''AV Führer'' or ''AVF'') are the standard series of Alpine guides that cover all the important mountain groups in the Eastern Alps. They are produced jointly by the German (DAV), Austrian (ÖAV) and South Tyrol Alpine Clubs (AVS). They have been published since 1950 by the firm of Bergverlag Rother in Munich, Germany. UIAA
The International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, commonly known by its French name Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA, lit. ''International Union of Alpine Clubs''), was founded in August 1932 in Chamonix, France when 20 mountaineering associations met for an alpine congress. Climbing Grade
In rock climbing, mountaineering, and other climbing disciplines, climbers give a grade to a climbing route or boulder problem, intended to describe concisely the difficulty and danger of climbing it. Different types of climbing (such as sport climbing, bouldering or ice climbing) each have their own grading systems, and many nationalities developed their own, distinctive grading systems. Ötztal
The Ötztal is an alpine valley located in Tyrol, Austria. The Ötztaler Ache river flows through the valley in a northern direction. The Ötztal separates the Stubai Alps in the east from the Ötztal Alps in the west. The valley is long. The northern end of the valley is at the confluence of the Ötztaler Ache and Inn rivers, 8 km east of Imst and 50 km west of Innsbruck. The only railway station of the valley, Ötztal railway station, is located here and connects the Ötztal with the Arlberg railway (Innsbruck-Bludenz) and also a motorway interchange to the A12 (E60).
