Wilby is a village and former civil parish, south west of Norwich, now in the parish of Quidenham, in the Breckland district, in the county of Norfolk, England. Wilby is a suburban linear village and civil parish in the Wellingborough built-up area of North Northamptonshire, England. The suburb is 3 miles south-west of Wellingborough town centre. The village is often considered a suburb of Wellingborough, due to its close proximity to the town, as well as having a Wellingborough town post code, as opposed to a Wellingborough rural post code. It is directly south-west of the town of Wellingborough on the former trunk road, the A4500, to the county town of Northampton. At the time of the 2011 census, the parish's population was 624 people. James Jonathon Wilby (born 20 February 1958) is an English actor. Early life and education Wilby was born in Rangoon, Burma to a corporate executive father. He was educated at Terrington Hall School, North Yorkshire and Sedbergh School in Cumbria (prior to 1974 in West Riding of Yorkshire), and from there went on to study for a degree in Mathematics at Grey College, University of Durham, and then at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Anne Hampson (28 November 1928 – 25 September 2014) was a British writer of over 125 romance novels in Mills & Boon from 1969 to 1998. She published historical romance novels under the pseudonym Jane Wilby. Although she retired in 1998, in 2005 she published two romance and a crime novel. She has written an autobiography entitled ''Fate Was My Friend'' . Early life Hampson dreamed of teaching and writing when she was six, but due to the depression after World War II, she had to leave her studies at fourteen and begin making blouses for Marks & Spencer's. She left work when she married. She sold her sewing machine for £15 to the neighbour who later encouraged her to publish her first novel. Wilby (born 1953) is an American and UK management scientist, and past director of the Centre for Systems Studies, and a senior lecturer and researcher in management systems and sciences in The Business School, University of Hull. She served as president of the International Society for the Systems Sciences for the term 2010–2011. Peter John Wilby (born 7 November 1944) is a British journalist. He is a former editor of ''The Independent on Sunday'' and the ''New Statesman''. Early life and career Wilby was educated at Kibworth Beauchamp grammar school in Leicestershire before gaining a place at Sussex University. While at Sussex, from where he graduated with a degree in history, he helped found a short-lived university paper called ''Sussex Outlook''. In 1968, he began his career as a reporter on ''The Observer'', becoming Education Correspondent four years later. In the same role, he worked for the ''New Statesman'' (1975–77), and for ''The Sunday Times'' (1977–86). Wilby joined ''The Independent on Sunday'' in 1990 and eventually became its editor (1995–96). Philip Wilby (born Pontefract, 1949) is a British composer, organist and choir director. Education Educated at Leeds Grammar School and Keble College, Oxford, he joined the staff at the University of Leeds as a Lecturer in the Department of Music in 1972. There he taught various composition, liturgy, directing, and score reading classes as well as co-founding the Leeds University Liturgical Choir. Music composing Composing for many different instruments and ensembles (piano, organ, voice, chamber ensemble, wind orchestra), Wilby is most known for his compositions for brass band.
