The Verbindungsbahn (), also known as the Stammstrecke (), is a railway line in Vienna, Austria. It runs across Vienna, roughly east–west, connecting with most major railway lines in the vicinity of Wien Hauptbahnhof. The section between and , along with part of the North railway line, hosts most Vienna S-Bahn services. Route The western end of the Verbindungsbahn is at , where it connects with the Western Railway and Suburban line. It runs to the south to connect with the Southern Railway and . A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Hietzing
Hietzing () is the 13th municipal District of Vienna (german: 13. Bezirk, Hietzing). It is located west of the central districts, west of Meidling. Hietzing is a heavily populated urban area with many residential buildings, but also contains large areas of the Vienna Woods, along with Schönbrunn Palace.Statistik Austria, 2007, webpage statistik.at-23450.
