Whitaker is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, and is on the Monongahela River upriver from Pittsburgh. The population was 1,179 at the 2020 census. The borough is named for James Whitaker, a pioneer settler. Whitaker was incorporated January 4, 1904, from part of the former Mifflin Township. Geography Whitaker is located at (40.399376, -79.886627). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of , of which is land and , or 11.76%, is water. Surrounding communities Whitaker has two land borders, including Munhall to the northwest and West Mifflin to the south and east. Across the Monongahela River to the northeast are the boroughs of Braddock and Rankin, the latter with a direct connector via Rankin Bridge. The book was originally published by J Whitaker & Sons from 1868 to 1997, then by The Stationery Office until 2003, and then by A & C Black which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloomsbury Publishing in 2011. The publication was acquired by Rebellion Publishing in 2020. The 153rd edition was published on 15 April 2021. Rebellion has announced that there will not be a 2022 edition. The Whitaker Baronetcy, of Babworth in the County of Nottingham, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 15 July 1936 for Albert Edward Whitaker. Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The center is the first complex of its kind in the United States to use science as an entry to the arts. Whitaker Center exhibits science, the performing arts, and a digital cinema under one roof. Whitaker Foundation
The Whitaker Foundation was based in Arlington, Virginia and was an organization that primarily supported biomedical engineering education and research, but also supported other forms of medical research. It was founded and funded by U. A. Whitaker in 1975 upon his death with additional support coming from his wife Helen Whitaker upon her death in 1982. The foundation contributed more than $700 million to various universities and medical schools. The foundation decided to spend its financial resources over a finite period, rather than creating an organization that would be around forever, in order to have the maximum impact. Clem Whitaker and Leone Baxter were a husband-and-wife team that started Campaigns, Inc., the first political consulting firm in the United States. Based in California, the firm worked on a variety of political issues, mostly for Republican Party candidates. They both supported conservative ideals.
