''When Easterly Showers Fall on the Sunny West'' (Traditional Chinese: 東山飄雨西關晴) is a Hong Kong TVB period drama series broadcasting from October till December 2008, starring Joe Ma and Charmaine Sheh as the main leads. The story takes place in the early 1930s in the city of Guangzhou (China) and revolves around the rich and prestigious Poon family. Synopsis Chong Fung Yi (Liza Wang) abandoned her eldest son immediately after he was born because she didn't want to be labeled as the woman who gave birth before she was even married. However, her son Muk Hing ( Joe Ma) manages to find his way back to her. Due to reputation purposes, she doesn't tell anybody about his true identity. Joe Ma Tak-chung (; Jyutping: maa5 dak1 zung1; born 27 June 1968) is a Hong Kong TVB actor. He was a policeman before he joined the Hong Kong entertainment industry in 1993. Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong SAR. The Company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service. TVB is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate. TVB commenced broadcasting on November 19, 1967. Angel Chiang () (born November 10, 1989) is a Hong Kong actress contracted to TVB. Career Angel Chiang went to school at Yan Chai Hospital Lim Por Yen Secondary School. Sharon Luk or Luk Sze-wan (born 29 December 1980) is a TVB actress. She is also Miss Hong Kong 2005 1st runner up. Background Growing up in a family of 2, Sharon was born in Hong Kong. Ever since she was young, Sharon wanted to be a pilot, but instead became a flight attendant with Korean Air and then Virgin Group. She entered the Miss Hong Kong 2005 pageant.
