The quad singles wheelchair tennis tournament at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo was held at the Ariake Tennis Park in Kōtō, Tokyo from 28 August to 4 September 2021. The defending champion was Dylan Alcott, who was the number 1 seed for the tournament. Ariake Coliseum
is an indoor sporting arena in located in Ariake, Kōtō, Tokyo, Japan. It has a capacity of 10,000 and is one of the few professional tennis venues which has a retractable roof. Events The arena is used as the center court for the Japan Open and the Pan Pacific Open, held in Ariake Tennis Forest Park. This venue will also host Road FC 24, instead of Ryogoku Kokugikan. Andy Lapthorne
Andrew David Lapthorne (born 11 October 1990) is a British wheelchair tennis player. He took up wheelchair tennis in 2005, and entered the quad division in 2008. He is active in both singles and doubles tournaments, and has 13 multiple grand slam titles in singles and doubles. He competed at his first Summer Paralympics at London 2012 in the quad singles and in the quad doubles, in which he won a silver medal and is now a three-time Paralympic medallist and British no.1 Quad tennis player, who started playing wheelchair tennis at the age of ten. Heath Davidson
Heath Arthur Davidson, (born 9 May 1987) is an Australian wheelchair tennis player. Davidson is a four-time Australian Open doubles champion, all partnering Dylan Alcott. He has also won two Paralympic medals, a gold and silver in doubles at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, respectively (both also partnering Alcott). Early life Davidson was born on 9 May 1987. He contracted viral transverse myelitis at the age of five months and this led to paraplegia. He attended Parkdale Secondary College in Melbourne. Shraga Weinberg (born 25 March 1966 in Petach Tiqva) is an Israelis, Israeli wheelchair tennis player. Weinberg was born in 1966, paralyzed in his upper body. He also has bone density abnormalities, which caused him to go through many surgeries in his younger years. For his recreation and rehabilitation, he began practicing disabled sports at the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled. In 2008 he was ranked 8th in the world in wheelchair tennis. In wheelchair tennis, Weinberg was ranked 1st in 2001 for singles' tournaments and in 2003 for couples' tournaments. In the five years prior to the 2004 Summer Paralympics, he was also ranked at the top of the Israeli chart. At the Paralympic Games he competed in singles and lost at the quarter final. Robert Shaw (born December 6, 1989) is a Canadian wheelchair tennis player who competes in international level events, he plays in the quads' division. He is a Parapan American Games champion in the quads' singles at the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima. He was partially paralysed from the neck down after a freak diving accident aged 21.
