West Derby (Romania)
The West Derby ( ro, Derbiul Vestului) is a match between the fierce rivals SSU Politehnica Timișoara and UTA Arad, the biggest and most popular football clubs in the western of Romania. History and context At first glance, the reasons for rivalry between Timișoara and Arad are multiple. At first sight, it is the rivalry between the cities, both with a rich economic and cultural activity. Then it would be the postwar period, when, in administratively terms, Arad destiny was decided by Timișoara. In football, the two cities dispute the status of pioneer in the Romanian football. All these aspects have contributed to today's enmity, between Poli and UTA. A decisive episode, however, was consumed in 1964. Liga IV is the fourth level of the Romanian football league system. Its name was changed from Divizia D into Liga IV before the start of play for the 2006–07 season. Current format Liga IV has 42 divisions. The divisions are regionalised and are organised by every county association. Each team plays in their own county. The county associations decide how many teams play in the league and how many matches each side plays. In Romania the most frequently used system is one division with matches played home and away. A number of associations prefer 2 or even 4 parallel divisions with the teams finishing first meeting in a play-off to decide the champion. Stadionul Otto Greffner is a multi-use stadium in Șiria, Romania. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Șiriana Șiria. Stadionul Motorul (Arad)
Motorul Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Arad, Romania, Arad, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of FC UTA Arad, UTA Arad until the new Stadionul Francisc von Neuman is completed. The stadium holds 4000 people, has an electronic scoreboard, a small floodlight for training and also a secondary training pitch behind the west stand. It is located in the Aradul Nou neighbourhood, next to the Caraiman station on the number 3 tram line of the public transport network. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Dan Păltinișanu Stadium ( ro, Stadionul Dan Păltinișanu) was a multi-purpose stadium in Timișoara, Romania. It was the second-largest stadium in Romania, with a seating capacity of 32,972. Until its closure in 2022, it was used mostly for football matches by the local team, SSU Politehnica Timișoara. The stadium was named after footballer Dan Păltinișanu (1951–1995) who played 10 seasons at FC Politehnica Timișoara. The stadium will be demolished for the construction of a new arena with 30,000 seats. History The stadium was officially inaugurated on 1 May 1963, then named 1 May. The construction of the stadium was done with the workers from the city's factories. Francisc von Neuman Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Arad, Romania. It was used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of FC UTA Arad, one of the most successful teams in Romanian club football. The stadium used to hold up to 7,287 people, all on seats, and was built in 1944. In 2014, the stadium was demolished to make way for a new, modern, all-seater stadium. It is to be used exclusively for football, and it was open in 2020.
